re: AKost's "tripping" on Schenn

I'd be the first one to pinpoint it if it was voluntary. It looked to me like Schenn was falling without the stick being there.. In any case it wasn't voluntary. the real problem is touch icing, it has been so for years.

Dunno if I’m looking too much into it but they were talking about this with Franky Gagnon on 990 this morning and he said something along the lines of “look, Grabovski thought he was bigger than the team and I don’t like guys like that…I don’t like young guys who think they deserve everything…A guy who thinks he deserves more icetime than Saku Koivu because he thinks he’s more skilled and a better player”.

I don’t know if he was speaking in general, but maybe he was alluding to something Grabovski said that alienated his teammates?

The Canadiens should be concerned with their efforts of late and not Grabovski. The Habs look like a club that has started to believe it's own good (sometimes down right sycophantic) press. The sooner they realize they’re not the 76-77 Canadiens and start playing for 60 minutes the better.

For sure, but in fairness to the players, this was brought up by the media.

Classy post. Frankly, Habs should concentrate on winning the next time they play the Leafs, not settling the score with an individual. Graboski was an important element in his team's success on saturday; here's hoping Sergei shows the same value for his team next time Habs play the Leafs.

Someone should explain to him that you don't discuss your personal grudges with the media. If SK goes out and runs Mikhail the next time the Habs and Leafs play, the officials and the league will bury him and the Habs.

I don't think we'll see anything close to that in this instance, as is usually the case it will be discussed in the papers but nothing will actually come from it.

As an aside and at the risk of taking this thread off on a tangent, I always thought that Draper was bush league for not taking care of that himself.

Agreed.

He clearly wanted to fight Claude Lemieux but didnt have the stones to do it himself. He just needed to justify having his teamates jump him.

Sergei !!!

I really wanted to see the two getting into a brawl, lol it would look funny in some way. Sergei would've destroyed him, no doubt. I hope Sergei will fire it up in the next few games.

I still like Grabovski though, no matter what he did to Sergei or whoever on the team. If you talk about hockey wise only, he has too much hockey skills to not like him. His success with Toronto doesn't surprises me one bit, good for him.

I'm sort of happy with this story arising (aside from the loss on the Habs' part).

I was sort of rooting for the hard-working, underdog Leafs earlier in the year. Their team has so little skill, but they were working hard, finishing checks and playing a solid system. I've always sort of liked Antropov, Coliacovo, Steen and Toskala. I didn't really hate anybody on their team, especially compared to when they had Domi, Green, McCabe, Corson, Tucker, Roberts, etc. I haven't truly had hatred for them in several seasons. After Saturday night, I have a player to root against. Grabovski scored against the Habs (which really doesn't help my approval rating of him), but worse, proceeded to throw cheap shots, dive and showboat. It was the perfect showing to rile me up.

It's also nice to see the Leafs fans getting passionate and obnoxious again, boasting about what a steal Grabs was 15 games into the season. It'll be nice to see how they respond to the team when they slump, and Grabs when he falls back to Earth.

Even if it's short term, I am legitimately rooting against three teams again (Bruins, Sens and Leafs), and that's not a bad thing in my books. I actually felt a little bad for the Leafs when the Habs pasted them in the second game of the season, now I would love to see the next game be a blowout of epic proportions.

Here's the post-game from Saturday's game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seQDU1w8ubY

Around the 2:00 mark, Cherry shows the butt-end.

Before that, he shows the "Koseegin" play on Schenn.

Here's hoping Grabovski sees a lot of red sweaters up close and personal.

--------------------

My question: Why isn't a butt-end, with obvious "intent" in that case, reviewable by the league? I certainly hope Gainey looked into it.

A lot of goalies would've fallen to the ice and flailed around. Shows a lot about Price's character.

Tim Thomas would have, but he'd just be trying to make a save.

It's going to be a blow out, I suspect Sergei will have his best game of the season and then point at the scoreboard with his stick causing a massive fight where 2-3 players get suspended =)
