Lupul doesnt see it that.

I thought I was competitive last year when I came back [from injury] and all through training camp, thats not an issue, he insisted. Im confident. But Im not getting as many minutes, and I cant play the same offensive game.
What do you expect him to say..."I've played like crap and I think I deserve to play on the 4th line"?

The "I'm not getting enough ice time" is complete trash. If you play good you get icetime. The best game he has played this season by far was the SJ overtime loss and he played almost 22 minutes in that game. Its not predetermined before the game how many minutes each guy is going to play. They roll lines out there early in the game and whoever is playing best that game is going to get more icetime so if your gliding around your not going to get 20 minutes a night sorry Lupes. Either way it doesnt matter, he plays 16-18 minutes a night even now that hes playing bad. There are plenty of guys in the NHL who are putting up a lot of points that are playing similar minutes to him. If he wasnt 13 games into the season with 6 points which all came within a 4 game span then he would be getting more ice time. You give the guys who are playing well ice and then ones that arent you give them less, thats how it works, you dont play him for 19 minutes a night just because he might have a good game one night.

Ok so I get it . . . Lupul hasn't been playing great. It happens . . . but has Asham played that well to be on the 2nd line?!?!

Get Asham off of Richards line.
Don't stand there with your thumb up your ass, looking like a lifeless robot all game.
And yeah, go **** yourself.

I think hes jsut sending him a message saying if you dont want to play then you wont play. I still think he will see more ice today than Asham.

It boggles the mind how this coaching staff is still around.

They are starting to look a lot like the Eagles . . .

Blowing out garbage teams, and just barely losing to good teams to make it seem like they put in a hard fought effort, despite no plan of attack, no in-game adjustments and a coach who consistantly makes bad decisions.

Yeah I just went on the hockeywebcasts site, and it says the only free webcast today is Dallas and Los Angeles, unless I'm missing something?

Thats the only one you can watch for free. Towards the top of the page go to "NHL" then the "flyers" and you can listen but not watch the game.

Islander fan here, I can tell you what will happen before it actually does.

The Islanders are going to come out flying, probably building a 2 or 3 goal lead by the third period. The Flyers will than tie it 4 minutes into the third, and than take the lead on a powerplay.

It happens every game to the Islanders, it's clockwork at this point. Good luck!

Hoping to see my first Flyers win this year, I've seen nearly all the losses outside of Ottawa and no wins. Good times.

I hope he is in.

Per Philly.com
Ossi Vaananen (upper-body injury) skated yesterday and will be a game-time decision today. The Finnish defenseman has what appears to be a broken finger, but said he is feeling better and could be ready to play.

NICE GDT MSE!!!

Quote:
April 28, 1985 -- In Game 5, Pelle Lindbergh registered his third shutout against the NYI this month as stopped 25 shots and Ilkka Sinisalo tallied the game's only goal in a 1-0 series-clinching victory. Sinisalo's goal came as Peter Zezel made contact with goalie Kelly Hrudey, who made 37 saves, and while some Isles complained Hrudey said "It was borderline..." The Islanders, the Stanley Cup Finalists the last five seasons, were eliminated in five games. Head Coach Mike Keenan said afterwards "When you play a heavyweight, you have to knock them out." The Flyers defense, led by Mark Howe, Brad McCrimmon, Doug Crossman and Brad Marsh, were powerful factors throughout the series in their own zone; they also contributed 17 of 38 shots in this game. Marsh said afterwards "It is an honor to beat the Islanders." Mike Bossy of NY said "I don't think they can win the Cup." And when asked by assembled media, he continued "I don't feel like telling you why."
I was there!

Mike Bossy, most underrated ever.

Too bad this GDT doesn't include Rich Pilon spending two and a half hours in an oral surgeon's chair as the result of a Flyer crosscheck.

I don't know if I'd call Bossy underrated. He's pretty highly regarded in my neck of the woods. I suppose the fact that he played in Long Island as opposed to Montreal may have cost him some exposure but even that's debatable with the Dynasty he led.

Thanks, boys. JXC -- check January 26, 1998 for a Pilon reference.

I recall Game 2 1987 as a major source of unpleasant comments on my part.

Looks like Bailey could be making his NHL debut:
Quote:

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/ho...slanders/blog/

It might be Veterans Day everywhere else on Long Island today, but at Nassau Coliseum, it's Rookie's Day. Word is that Islanders No. 1 draft pick Josh Bailey definitely will make his NHL debut against Philadelphia this afternoon at 2.

It's uncertain whose spot he's taking in the lineup, but it's most likely that of center Mike Comrie, who underwent an examination of his surgically repaired hip on Monday.

When I spoke to Bailey last Friday, we talked about watching some of the other first-round draft picks who got their chance to make it and succeeded in sticking with their NHL teams. "I'm friends with a lot of them," Bailey said. "I like to see what they're doing. If their game is on TV, I'll watch to see how they're making out. I keep in touch a little bit. It's encouraging to see guys my age being able to step up in the NHL. It's something you want to do as well. It can be done. I feel confident you can do it well."
