Dandy is not a better 4th liner, the guy works hard but can hardly touch a fly while Begin can hit like a maniac and wake the team up. Plus there's nobody better on the pk than Begin on this team, willing to sacrifice his body. Dandy is a damn softy like Breezer.

We got eliminated because we couldn't beat Biron. Plain and simple. No Begin does not mean we score more goals on Biron.
Obviously not... 100% of the blame does not go on Begin... However the fact remains that he was in the box for a stupid penalty when the gwg was scored against the habs that eliminated them in both 07, and 08. He should have learned his lesson in 07, and I would forgive him, but then he did it again in 08 vs philly....

But after that did he learn his lesson.... nope... cause he took not one.. but two stupid penalties in the third period of the first game of the season in buffalo.

I always thought that Begin regressed a lot since being injured a lot of time. Don't get me wrong, he has a huge heart but I just don't think he can physically do the same job he was doing in the past anymore.

They will all be gone next year, replaced my younger, cheaper, better players so room can be made to pay Koivu, Kovalev, Tanguay, and Komisarek.

Goodbye Begin, hello Stewart
Goodbye Kostopoulos, hello Pacioretty
Goodbye Dandy, hello D'Agostini
Goodbye Lang, hello Chipchura
Goodbye Brisebois, hello Emelin, Weber, or Carle
You can't just be rid of all of them.... most of them yes... but you are gonna need some veteran presence on the bottom lines. You can't have 6-7 rookies in the lineup and expect to compete. Look how Gainey is bringing along the team 1-2 guys at a time.

I keep Kostopolous... the savings on the salary cap from his 1million to a young kids 600,000 or 700,000 are not that great. He is a good PKer, a guy who will drop the gloves for his teammates... and he will do whatever he is asked to for the team. He's a good teammate and i think the room respects him for giving his all every shift.

Kosto > Begin, and Begin costs more so he is out.
Dandy costs too much for the role... he is out.
Brisebois, Boullion are probably gone
Lang is also probably gone.
So thats 5 guys to replace already... you don't want to make it too many.

I agree... Begin's body is breaking down... too bad for him cause i love his heart... but he just can't physically do the job anymore.

Its not one mistake... its making the same mistake over and over, and over and over.

at the same time no less!
4 dumb minutes.
that was his last straw for me as well.

I like the decision of playing Dandenault.

If you take into account rookie bonuses I don't think you would be saving any money replacing Kosto with Pac.
Not sure what Brisebois bonuses are but there might not be a savings there either.

Im not a fan of Begin, but honestly, whether it be Dandy or Begin, I dont see that decision making or breaking the game. As my coach used to tell our 4th liners:

"Go out there, forecheck, backcheck, dont score, dont get scored on, give our other lines a chance to rest"

people expecting to see Begin the next 2 games can forget about that.

The lineup will not change.
