Just a rumor: Halak for Clark (Denver Post)

The Denver Post is reporting that Halak could be traded to Colorado for Defenseman Brett Clark! Right now the only problem is salary cap room because Brett Clark is making over $3,000,000 a season and that would push us to the ceiling of the cap.

I highly doubt this happens. It would be a HORRIBLE move from the habs.

Ridiculous, considering Clark's age, salary, and the fact that he shoots from the left side.

1) Could we put "rumor" in the topic title please? Jesus.

2) Your link says nothing about Halak, Clark, or the Avs.

Also Brett Clark has one of the worst contracts in the league...Halak has one of the best. I hope this is just wishful thinking from some Denver scribe.

Wait...so Colorado's cap number goes from $92m to $57m after unloading Brett Clark? I get it!

Now Ohlund on the other hand...

If the Canucks fail to make the playoffs, Ohlund will be traded (and I hope it's to Montreal).

We need RD not LD and Clark is not worth 3 mill., won't happen, his name is BG not JFJ.

I think Clark would help fix our PP. It's not the best move but maybe we can get something else added on.

Also, I heard that we won't be making any moves for d-men until 2009 at least.

what do you mean "done"? not only is this a rumor, but it's a highly speculative and slightly ridiculous one at best. it makes absolutely no sense.
what if (Price forbid), Price goes down with an injury. we'll have Denis and Desjardins in nets. no thank you!

With Bouillon and Gorges playing REALLY well, and with Markov-Komisarek-Hamrlik as the obvious top-3, this leaves O'Byrne, who's been improving lately and is the kind of guy that will be useful in the playoffs because of his size and physical edge, as well as Brisebois who can play the PP and has a lot of experience and hasnt played that bad so far.

I wouldnt be against trading for some more depth, because if Hamrlik or Markov goes down we're screwed, but then we would need someone similar to them, who can skate, move the puck and play well defensively.

Brett Clark is out of the question, thats a no brainer. Ohlund I would love to, but they wouldnt want Halak. Maybe a package surrounding Maxwell and D'Agostini, maybe a 1st rounder too?

If our 7 dmen continue playing the way they are, I am not sure Gainey will trade anything worthy to our organisation for another D who might or might not be as useful as we seem to think.

Before the season I wanted a #4 because I was worried about Bouillon and Gorges. Right now they are playing even better then everyone thought, so do we really need to go out and get another D? I'd like us to developp O'Byrne instead.

Brett Clark is one of the last D men I'd want to trade Halak far.
