Wow ,since he is the one who started this thread, i would like to let you know that our buddy Murph has a post over on the Booins board, stating how he thinks that S Thornton has completely broken BGLs confidence. I am sorry but he is way out in left field with this one..

I notice my brain start to wobble a bit every time I visit that board. Maybe this explains it.

Good, to all the Bruins/Sens fans who thought it was nothing, people with actual brains looked at the play.

Awesome. NHL finally punishing the gesture and not the result, although should have been more because he was aiming for the head all along.

Kosto and Ruutu suspension suprise me because NHL seem to abolish those kind of act. Not only the result, but the move.

Again, it was borderline for me. It could have been debated that Sauer's hands were to the upper torso/near neck area of Kostitsyn and not directly to the head.

I would not have suspended him, but would have given him at least a 2 for roughing.

good suspension.. in line with what Kosto got which was almost as bad but given it's from behind and into the boards probably deserved 1 extra game. I guess.

Nice. I'm glad to see the NHL actually stepping up on this one. I think that Ruutu's antics later in the game worked to his detriment in this case. It's impossible to argue that he wasn't pleased with himself for giving a cheap shot like that out. Well deserved, even if no injury occurred.

Mike Commodore's a lucky guy after his elbow on Friday though.

Better than nothing, which is what I expected the NHL to do.

Sauer wasn't worth a suspension.

Finally the league suspend a player without a need for major injury.

The thing is, IMO, Ruutu"s hit was intentional, whereas, when you look at the TK hit, Van Rynn was tilting his shoulders towards the goal at the moment TK is about to hit him, which would've put Van Rynn sideways to the boards, but instead of completing his tilt, he went back to facing the boards, as if he was trying to feign wanting to go alongside the boards and instead wanted to flip the other way. Not excusing TK, nor putting the blame on Van Rynn here, but looking at the replay, you can definetly see Van Rynn starting to tilt to the side, TK just couldn't make the change in time as he was already in his forward motion to hit when Van Rynn stopped tilting and went back towards the boards.

I still think it's ridiculous how they only give him two games simply because Lappy isn't out for a month. By intent alone, this should've been a minimum of 5 games. It's pathetic...

Wow, I really didn't expect to see a suspension. There definitely should have been one though because it was clearly head hunting.

I'm surprised by this given the NHL NEVER suspend someone because of the intent. It's always the consequence and how the person got hurt. Two games while Kosto got 3 when the Ruutu hit was more dangerous in my opinion and the intent was to injure.

Kosto should have got 2, Ruutu should have got 5 easy.

Can't you figure this one out by yourself?..

It's like that fat ****** Jean-Charles on 110%..that disses Laraque from the beginning of the season.
Even before the season started, he was dissing him on the radio for missing the Golf Tournament. Laraque called him during the show to tell him to shut his fat yap (in other words..).

If you look at the play again, Ruutu hits Lappy, Laraque turns around to go after him but Bouillon already jumped on him.
Then this JC, says, well there's Neil, Fight him!..
What a moron.

Laraque is not an idiot, he's not going to fight somebody that's unwilling to fight. Neil turned him down, Ruutu turned him down.
If he decides to still do it, he'll get a 2 for instigating, 5 fighting and a 10 for misconduct.
Carbo has been preaching discipline since the beginning of the season.

I just don't get some people, they think Laraque is supposed to be Rambo.

As for the suspension, I find it stupid it's only 2Games. It seems they only give 2Games for Elbowing.
It should be more than Kosto seeing how Ruutu clearly went for the head.

I just re-watched it on Youtube & holy crap, I can't believe how fast Ruutu skated from Laraque. He literally ran for dear life!

Haven't seen something like that since Domi ran from McCarthy.

Congrats to the NHL on dropping both testes into the pouch.
