This is why you have a farm system, and if guys like Syvret and Guenin are not trustworthy enough to get spot callups, they shouldn't be in the organization.
It wasn't a mistake at the time. The Flyers needed someone who was NHL-ready. Syvret or Guenin might have been better replacements than Alberts, but at least Alberts was a known quantity in the NHL. In hindsight, Alberts cleary hasn't been the player the Flyers hoped he'd be; he may still be moved yet. I don't think Holmgren will have any problem waiving him if he becomes expendable.

At the moment, management clearly believe it's better to keep him around than Lasse. I don't think it has to do with Holmgren not wanting to admit the Alberts trade was a mistake.

Whatever, we're still better off with Carle than with Downie centering the 4th line.

Like PP, PK on top of regular 2nd and 3rd line duties is not enough, the Flyers have to avoid playing the 4th line at all.

My question is, if Kukks sucks at handling the puck, why make him the Center? Why not someone like Carle who likes joining the play and is much more talented with the puck.

Yeah, it's dumb but why waste Carle there who has been one of our better defencemen since he arrived and take 15 minutes off his ice time?

Yeah but I'm making the case that Kukks centering the 4th line is better than Downie? Seriously?

For the amount of minutes Kukks will play tonight, it really doesn't matter.

I'd rather have Carle playing strictly D for 25 minutes than Kukkonen on D for 15 minutes and Carle at centre for 7 minutes.

cause this way stevens can still give lasse no ice time and keep carle up at 20+ minutes. taking ice time away from carle, let alone to give it to kukkonen, is not something stevens would do even if he was being forced to take a dump with a spike up his ass.

I sure hope so.

I just don't see this (Kuks) option being very effective against the Pens.

I have a nasty feeling about this game. I hope I'm wrong.

Actually, if the Flyers would have waived long enough, they could have gotten Alberts off waivers. Guys play who are not NHL-ready. However, your farm team needs to be an asset and not a penance. Instead of making trades, they should give someone a shot. Pittsburgh lost Gonchar and Whitney for at least 4 months each, and they didn't make a panic trade, they actually found something in Alex Golgoski that they didn't know they really had until they let him play.

You guys are aware that Stevens is NOT the GM correct?

This is what's annoying, things that have nothing to do with him people get pissed at. So he doesnt play Kukk, kukk sucks! I would rather have Alberts out anyway. Even if Kukk was better than Alberts he wouldnt get playing time over Alberts because the Flyers are not going to just bench Alberts who they just traded for. If your pissed at anyone it should be Homer. God damn, not everything is Stevens's fault.

The Flyers already had their own Goligoski in Sbisa.

Eminger was gaining confidence by the game, but still wasn't totally comfortable. Without trading for Alberts, three defenseman on the Flyers could have been a rookie and two AHL call-ups due to the number of injuries on the back end.

It was the right trade at the time.
