11/14/08: Nashville @ Anaheim

Nashville Team Leaders
Goals: Shea Weber, Martin Erat, 7
ASsists: Jean-Pierre Dumont, 15
Points: Dumont, 17
Power Play Goals: Jason Arnott, 4
Power Play Scoring: Dumont, 0g+7a
Short-Handed Goals: Shea Weber, Joel Ward, Vernon Fiddler, 1
Short-Handed Scoring: Weber (1g+1a), Scott Nichol (0g+2a)
Shots: Weber, 45
Shooting Percentage: Arnott, Erat, 25.0%
Plus-Minus: Weber, +7
Penalty Minutes: Jordin Tootoo, 26
Hits: Weber, 36
Blocked Shots: Greg Zanon, 46
Giveaways: Dumont, 11
Takeaways: Tootoo, 11
Turnover Differential: Tootoo, Patric Hörnqvist, +7
Wins: Dan Ellis, 5-7-1
Minutes Played: Ellis, 755
Goals Against Average: Ellis, 3.18
Save Percentage: Ellis, .890
Shutouts: None Recorded

Nashville Fun Fact: Greg Zanon is second in the NHL in blocked shots, and needs four tonight to pass Mike Komisarek for the league lead.

Nashville Player to Watch: Radek Bonk... no, seriously. The guy has 11 points in 17 career games against the DUcks. That's more than Dumont in a similar span (16 games).

Nashville Reason to Worry: The Predators haven't won in Anaheim in regulation since January of 2001.

Nashville Injury Report
Joel Ward (Head, Probable)
Martin Erat (Upper Body, Doubtful)
Jean-Pierre Dumont (Muscle Stiffness, Probable)
Radek Bonk (Foot, Game-Time Decision)

Nashville Projected Lineup

Jones-Legwand-Dumont
Fiddler-Arnott-Ward
Smithson-Bonk-Tootoo
Peverley-Nichol-Tarnasky

Weber-Suter
Hamhuis-Zanon
De Vries-Koistinen

Ellis

Anaheim Team Leaders

Goals: Teemu Selanne, 9
Assists: Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, 13
Points: Getzlaf, 19
Power Play Goals: Selanne, 8
Short-Handed Goals: Travis Moen, 1
Shots: Perry, 64
Shooting Percentage: Brian Sutherby, 18.8%
Plus-Minus: Perry, Sutherby, Ryan Carter, +6
Penalty Minutes: Steve Montador, 34
Hits: Chris Kunitz, 43
Blocked Shots: Chris Pronger, 27
Wins: Jean-Sebastien Giguere, 7-6-0
Minutes Played: Giguere, 783
Goals Against AVerage: Jonas Hiller, 2.72
Save Percentage: Hiller, .908
Shutouts: Giguere, 2

Anaheim Fun Fact:
Jean-Sebastien Giguere is just two starts shy of 200 career starts, and has 174 with the Ducks (I think, not entirely sure on that number).

Anaheim Player to Watch: Chris Kunitz has 5 goals and 15 points in 12 games against Nashville, with four of those goals and 12 of those points coming in seven matches at the Honda Center. And if he's feeling lucky, he might get into a scrap with Ville Koistinen.

Anaheim Reason to Worry:
The Ducks have had some recent offensive struggles, scoring just 12 goals in their last five games, with five of those coming against St. Louis on November 5th. The Ducks have also conceded 10 goals in their last three contests, including five against Dallas and three to David Booth the Florida Panthers.

Anaheim Injury Report
Brad Larsen (Hernia, IR)

Anaheim Projected Lineup
Kunitz-Getzlaf-Perry
Sutherby-Morrison-Selanne
Moen-Pahlsson-Niedermayer
Marchant-Carter-May

Niedermayer-Pronger
Beauchemin-Hedican
Huskins-Montador

Giguere

Media Coverage: The game will be broadcast on FSN Prime Ticket, and can be heard on KMXE 830 AM out of Orange for those in SoCal. In Nashville, the game will be aired on FSN-South and broadcast on 104.5 "The Zone." Tom Callahan will have the radio call, and Pete Weber and Terry Crisp will cover the game on TV. The game can also be heard on XM 204.

Rumors say that Pete said on 104.5 The Zone this morning that Ellis and Erat are out and Ward is back in.

Can anyone confirm this?

Our bottom three lines look absolutely god awful....How can we win with that? Honestly? It is probably the worst collection of talent in the league for the 2nd through 4th lines.

I would hope Hornqvist is in the lineup somewhere.....

He was in a four-man rotation with Nichol, Peverley, and Tarnasky at practice, per the Tennessean.

I have to admit that was a great goal by Morrison.

Can someone please tell me why Ward and Legwand are on the 1st PP unit and Dumont isn't?

If I even tried to begin rationalizing some of Trotz's decisions, my head would probably explode.

That was a good game. OT winner made it well worth staying up late.

It's good to see us salvaging this road trip.

And yet the lines worked.

Crow anyone???

Not saying that I LIKE having fiddler as the best option to skate on the "top line" but it worked

Great game, good thing I stayed up to watch it all. I think the D did a whole lot better then the last couple of games, but I did see some flub ups.

Fiddler played a very good game last night. It was probably his best effort of the year. I thought we played very well. Once again, I missed the third period (these west coast games are simply on too late!) What I did see was better offensive flow in the first 2 periods than we have had recently. Great goal by Jones. I hope he lives in front of the net for the rest of his career. Dumont's goal was extremely opportunistic and a great shot.

Lets see what we can do tonight.

I think the ENTIRE team did a whole lot better than I've seen so far this year.

I agree. This looked much more like the team I expected- fast on the forecheck, good forward help on the D end, solid defense, good puck movement.

The 1st period was maybe the best of the year even though we gave up 2 goals. We also didn't wilt in the 3rd from a physical game.
