Then there was general manager Paul Holmgren tripping off to his homeland of Minnesota for a game between the Wild and Phoenix Coyotes Thursday rather than watch his team in Pittsburgh.
Holmgren said that was part of a pre-planned scouting trip for USA hockey, as he is part of a team of NHL general managers who will be putting together the 2010 Olympic team.
But members of the Daily Times' spy network said Holmgren was in deep conversation at one point with Coyotes general manager Don Maloney.
Agree that Burns isn't going anywhere, but disagree that Johnsson is too much money. The guy is only going to turn 32 and is making a little over 5 million bucks a year. He's a very, very, very solid number 2 and would make our defense infinitely better. I'd have no problems offering Hartnell/Lupul and Jones for Johnsson +. Our defense would be much, much, much better with Kim back there. Look at how our top six would look with Johnsson - Timonen, Johnsson, Coburn, Vaananen, Carle, Sbisa. That would be a killer group.
johnsson missed 2nd haalf of last season w/ flyers because of concussion...missed time in playoffs 1st season w/ minny because of concussion...
couple of people i spoke to in minny thought he was dissapointing his first season there...i'd rather hold on to lupul & hartnell.
wait for parent and jones to come back and save hartnell/lupul to put in a package for a guy like bouw.
Doesn't make any sense. PMB is a center, and unless Briere is going the other way, which is more than unlikely, this scouting isn't making sense to me.

Nah PMB plays wing mostly. He would be great with Carter
