I say just keep the same pairings. But you can call Gorges the #4 dman. He still plays with Bouillon his regular shift. Maybe he kills important penalties with Hamrlik. Maybe he even gets the odd 2nd unit PP shift. Naw, maybe that's stretching it. But he can be #4 and play 20 minutes without changing the official pairings.
Guys like Brisebois and O'Byrne are the ones who need to be insulated by playing them with Hamrlik on their regular shifts.
Problem even more solved.
Fine by me. Either way, I'm O.K. with it.

Philippe Boucher just got traded to Pittsburgh for Daryl Sydor.
Boucher could have been nice here on the PP and with Hamrlik.
Is Gainey missing things?

WTF?? For Sydor?
He would've been a solid pickup, $2.5 million is reasonable and he's a UFA after this season...

WTF??? Sydor?? How is this helping Dallas? ewww. You missed the boat Bob!!!
We had that 4th defencemen... That guy was Ron Hainsey... Cannon of a shot, Know how to play defence, amazing first pass, skated like the wind, nice puck moving skills, tall, strong, cocky, good friend with Mike Komisarek...
And we lost him on waivers... If only we didn't signed Bouillon and kept Hainsey on the roster.

Bob Gainey
It wasn't having Bouillion that cost us Hainsey, it was Hainsey's own sucking that cost us Hainsey.... He never played well for us... his head was never screwed on properly and he needed a wakeup call... ie being on waivers to get it.
He was sent down to the AHL cause Mark Streit was better than him in 06 training camp.... plain and simple... He wasn't good enough to cut it.
It would have been a long shot anyway. The more relevant part of that story pertaining to the Habs is now the Ducks are also most likely in the market for a defenseman.
I hope we try to get Beauchemin this off-season... I wonder what his loyalty to Anaheim would be with Burke now gone.

I heard an interesting story yesterday on either TSN or theScore can't remember which one... apparently burke didn't even know who Beauchemin was when he made the Federov deal, he was just trying to unload Federov and his contract.
Bob Murray (Assistant GM at the time, new ducks GM) told Burke to insist on Beauchemin.

Even if Hainey has stayed Montreal property, do you honestly think he'd be worth 4.5 mil a year for 5 years? That's one of the worst contracts in the NHL...even worse than Blake McCabe etc
Hainsey is no better than Brisebois. Good offensively, mediocre defensively. He is even more overpaid than Streit.

Not surprising. Burke seems to have stumbled onto a lot of luck during his tenure in Anaheim. The Ducks are probably better off with Murray as GM.
(Hope that didn't set off some sort of Leaf signal over on their board)
