Offense starts on Defence. They are the ones taking the puck OUT of our zone. Bad d-men = bad offense.

We seemed to be fine before. Looks like no one wants to even pass anymore.

At least Carbo did one thing right yesterday - putting the kosts together, and off kovalev's line

All of a sudden Gainey doesn't seem like the genious 90% of our fanbase takes him for, does he.

I think he's a great GM, but I think he makes some pretty bad decisions.

His drafting record is impressive, but alot of that is attributed to Timmons.

His trading record, is very mixed, IMO.

UFA signings - Only good one so far has been Hamrlik?

All this talk about signing Streit is pointless.

Everybody wanted to chase big name free agents for this year, including the Swedish hermit. If we had signed Streit (who everybody did not agree on anyway) it MIGHT have been for 2.3 mm or so.

I would have loved to see how much howling there would have been if we spent money on guys like Streit mid-season, then had nothing available come July

Hind site is a wonderful thing folks. It makes people feel just a bit too wise

Kostopoulos was a pretty solid signing too, IMO.

Not really his fault when many players don't want to sign here.

This isn't Gainey's fault at all (if you can even say there is something to be faulty of......its just a slump).

In my opinion it is just the players slacking

Tanguay for an '08 1st and '09 2nd
Rivet & 5th for Gorges and 1st (Max Pac)
Balej for Kovalev (later a UFA signing)

To be fair, Conboy was the 5th round pick from the Ribs trade

I hope he does, he's killing me in my office pool, I'd be near the top if he put up some points.

We are just joking man. No need to get angry.

Gainey has done a great job with this club, even with mistakes (not to mention all his good things) we are a Top-NHL team.. something we haven't seen in a long, long time. I'm happy.

Aside from skill, confidence is crucial in a team game. When you have it as a team, things just click. You are making crisp passes and finding the spots needed to score on a consistent basis. The team just does not have the confidence right now an they cannot complete a pass to save their lives.

As for the Gainey debate, it is not his fault that UFAs avoid us like the plague. He has to make due with trades that work out or stink badly like the Ribs trade. At times, immediate circumstances dictate the moves you make and at that time, trading Ribs was a prudent move, for example.

I'll go with the poopy prediction and say 5-4 for the Blues. I think the team will struggle again today.

Halak will have a good game again limiting the Blues to a meager 2 goals. However I cant say which habs team will show up but I am gonna go way out on a limb and say...
3-2 Habs

I have a feeling it will be a low scoring game, possibly even OT/SO. Habs need a victory badly, I don't care if it's a snooze-fest as long as they come out with the 2 pts.
