All this talk about signing Streit is pointless.

Everybody wanted to chase big name free agents for this year, including the Swedish hermit. If we had signed Streit (who everybody did not agree on anyway) it MIGHT have been for 2.3 mm or so.

I would have loved to see how much howling there would have been if we spent money on guys like Streit mid-season, then had nothing available come July

Hind site is a wonderful thing folks. It makes people feel just a bit too wise

Gainey has done a great job with this club, even with mistakes (not to mention all his good things) we are a Top-NHL team.. something we haven't seen in a long, long time. I'm happy.

Aside from skill, confidence is crucial in a team game. When you have it as a team, things just click. You are making crisp passes and finding the spots needed to score on a consistent basis. The team just does not have the confidence right now an they cannot complete a pass to save their lives.

As for the Gainey debate, it is not his fault that UFAs avoid us like the plague. He has to make due with trades that work out or stink badly like the Ribs trade. At times, immediate circumstances dictate the moves you make and at that time, trading Ribs was a prudent move, for example.
