Idea: Jason Spezza

Haven't Seen this yet, so I figured I'd break the ice.

Ottawa is in trouble, we have been longing for a poster Child, Spezza MIGHT be up for grabs sometime this year, as per TSN.

Who would you give for Spezza?

Keep in mind he would be our #1 center.

He would cost 7mil, and he would be locked up for a good long while.

No need to flame or bash, I know we need another #1 or #4 defender more then a Franchise center like Spezza, but if we had a chance to trade for Spezza, I wouldn't pass it up.

Just food for thought.

To get Spezza it will take considerable assets going the other way....to a divisional rival.

Spezza is a great player but he wouldn't be the player i'd "dismantle" the team to get.

is this serious or is it a spin-off of the erik cole thread?

the team just needs a shake-up because they aren't paying attention to detail. If the habs cant find a spark with their current lineup, they will go to the farm to try and ingite the fire. I seem to remember the team getting a spark when s kost was called up last season. I dont know if its complacency or what but the team just needs something to stir the pot... and they'll stir it internally before they go externally because they have the depth to do so.

This pachage would have to start with Plekanec and I really dont want to rebuild Ottawas team for them.

We need someone who shoots the puck, we have too many playmakers already.

No its a serious question, the TSN article http://tsn.ca/columnists/scott_culle...=headlines_nhl got me thinking, got me and my friends speculating, we came up with interesting outcomes without giving up half the team.

NO WAY! i do not like the way spezza plays. He is not what we need at all! I would not give up anyone for him. Plus i cant stand when he laughs at every single question in an interview. no thanks.

Sens fan here. Would this work for the Habs?

Plekanec, McDonaugh, Pacioretty for Spezza.

In that case, I dont think the habs need a spezza or spezza type player. Last year, s kost was brought up from the farm and the team responded with inspired efforts. This year, there are other options on the farm if it comes down to that. It doesn't have to take a jason spezza type player to create that effect.

So yeah, I'd look at the D more closely because the internal options there are not as plentiful as they are at the forward position. I'm sure gainey is evaluating this situation and we'll see if we will need a #4 d-man from the market. It looks like we do right now but that might not be the case in a month or 2 months from now.

With that crazy contract of Spezza's and a looming decrease in the salary cap, the Sens would be lucky to get Dandenault for Spezza.

Your proposal is quite a bit off.

I think this is what it would to get Spezza and this is why I think HABS will not do it.

Spezza is still a 100pts player. Let's not underrate him because he plays with the Sens.

Spezza never had 100pts, his highest total is 92pts.
He's also never played a full NHL season yet.

There's no way Spezza is worth that much.
McDonagh who's one of the best D prospect in the league. MaxPac that has the potential to be a very good PowerForward with actual speed and nice pair of hands.
Plekanec, a speedy center, with great vision and two way hockey skills. Can play PP-PK and can put up 70ish pts.

No way in hell Spezza gets that much of a return to OTT.

No Spezza. He's a turnover machine and not what this team needs. He gets called out by Hartsburg and still goes out playing like ****. Plus I wouldn't want to help the Sens out by giving them good assets, let them burn.

Why the hell are you posting a Leafs/Sens trade and Leafs/Sens line-ups in a Habs thread?
