is this serious or is it a spin-off of the erik cole thread?
the team just needs a shake-up because they aren't paying attention to detail. If the habs cant find a spark with their current lineup, they will go to the farm to try and ingite the fire. I seem to remember the team getting a spark when s kost was called up last season. I dont know if its complacency or what but the team just needs something to stir the pot... and they'll stir it internally before they go externally because they have the depth to do so.
In that case, I dont think the habs need a spezza or spezza type player. Last year, s kost was brought up from the farm and the team responded with inspired efforts. This year, there are other options on the farm if it comes down to that. It doesn't have to take a jason spezza type player to create that effect.
So yeah, I'd look at the D more closely because the internal options there are not as plentiful as they are at the forward position. I'm sure gainey is evaluating this situation and we'll see if we will need a #4 d-man from the market. It looks like we do right now but that might not be the case in a month or 2 months from now.
I think this is what it would to get Spezza and this is why I think HABS will not do it.
There's no way Spezza is worth that much.
McDonagh who's one of the best D prospect in the league. MaxPac that has the potential to be a very good PowerForward with actual speed and nice pair of hands.
Plekanec, a speedy center, with great vision and two way hockey skills. Can play PP-PK and can put up 70ish pts.
No way in hell Spezza gets that much of a return to OTT.
No Spezza. He's a turnover machine and not what this team needs. He gets called out by Hartsburg and still goes out playing like ****. Plus I wouldn't want to help the Sens out by giving them good assets, let them burn.
