If Spezza left Ottawa you can bet your ass it will not be to a team in their own division.

Name one time a player of his calibur has been traded within their own division?

This combination could possibly get us Kovalchuk, i think Spezza is great but i would pick kovalchuk if i had the choice.

Yes, Spezza is a center but for raw talent, Kovalchuk wins.

Spezza is a great player but he wouldn't be the player i'd "dismantle" the team to get.
Spezza is too soft to play here in Montreal. They would eat him alive

Judging by the way this team plays, they need to get tougher. So I would not want to trade McDonagh and Pacioretty.

So, we're a talented team that plays soft with no pride.

And you want to add the very epitome of that playing style in Jason Spezza? Big time pass.

Well Spezza signed for 7 years, Kovalchuk for 2

No but seriously, you're absolutely right. No way he goes to Montreal/Toronto.

LOL...funny.

SPEZZA'S CONS: soft, heartless, soft, no guts, soft, no grit, soft, not a playoffs player like Alfredsson, Fisher, Volchenkov (no wonder Spezza is rumoured often in trades). Soft.

SPEZZA'S PROS: reached 92 pts in one season...if healthy he's a 80 to 95 pts player (good for hockey pools!). Spezza is good for 5 to 10 highlight reel goals per year. Spezza has lots of talent, skill, etc, etc...

I don't want to see Spezza in a HABS jersey.
He's exactly what we don't need (very talented but softer than butter, not a playoffs player).

I can't wait to see what team will take him!! (it better not be us).

I would prefer Mikko Koivu...try something like Plekanec and Latendresse for Mikko Koivu. Mmmm yeah...

This would strip our farm system and we don't have enough caproom for Spezza. If we make a deal for Spezza has to be contract going back.

I would do Kovalev, Halak and Lang for Spezza?

Not even Crosby could get that. We're at a point in the league where no player will ever get the right value. We will never see another Lindros-type deal where a team gets to lose half of its roster for one guy.

I could see something like Plekanec, a pick, Halak and O'Byrne getting it done. (if the Sens would really want to trade him).

Spezza: really good player. Totally not the type of player the Habs need. In fact. he's exactly the opposite of what we need. Pass from me.

With Murray in Anaheim, any chance Gainey can strip the NHL GM noob of Getzlaf or Perry?

Those are the types we should be trading for.

No thanks. I think Spezza's good but overrated.

I consider Heatley one of the top scorers in the league. The fact that Spezza can't produce unless Alfie's on the line with them to me is a big warning sign.

Also, we would have to overpay massively for him considering we're in the same division and his salary could handcuff us in the future.

No thanks.
