Cote out until at least November 29 with a torn oblique muscle

I'm not sure how many saw this:

Ross promoted. Riley Cote was placed on the long-term injury list, freeing cap space and enabling the Flyers to promote Jared Ross from the Phantoms.

Cote, sidelined with a torn oblique muscle, must miss 10 games or 24 days to be placed on the LTI list; he won't be able to return until at least Nov. 29 in Toronto.

Josh Gratton will thus remain with the Flyers for awhile.

"It feels like it's a tryout in a way," Gratton said.

Before the game, Gratton sat in the stands, sipped coffee, taped his sticks and thought about "how loud the fans are going to be and what to expect."

For a Canadian, playing in Montreal for the first time is akin to a baseball player playing his initial game at Wrigley Field or Fenway Park.

"I was just taking it all in," he said, before being decisioned by the Canadiens' Georges Laraque in a first-period fight.

I'm not sure what to make of it. Cap space? Must miss 10 games?

People have been saying Gratton's not a real heavyweight, even though he just took on the big guy. If all we have are 2 light heavyweights for 10 games,

We don't need a heavyweight.

Gratton brings more to the table than Cote, I'm fine with this.

It's not a big deal. Let's give Gratton a shot to stick around. Fighters thrive on just getting a chance to play.

when Cotes ready to come back just waive Asham!

Grattons a better middleweight and he doesnt ever not feel like playing.

Plus hes cheaper.

im ok with it. i think gratton's looked really good and definitely offers more. he looks like a player out there, not a fighter.

I'm not sure gratton's the answer either, his head looked like a speed bag vs. BGL

He at least fought him. Takes huge balls to do so. He knew he was the fighter on the team, he did what he had to do.

I like both Gratton and Ross on the 4th line. They break speed and decent puck skills. I agree that when Cote is back, Asham should be waived, to have Cote-Ross-Gratton.

Asham is cheap and brings veteran leadership. Asham should stay and be a fourth liner for us.

I'd like to see some more of that 4th line. They certainly did their job last night.

Still waiting for at least 2 hits per game from Asham and fight every 3 games.

I can't take Asham anymore, but I love Ross. Hopefully he will stay around.

The 4th line looked solid tonight. Hard checking and some pressure on the forecheck and around the net.
