They weren't going to learn it in St. Louis, either.
I think they might learn something with 3 losses in a row, & this would have been a perfect example of how taking 3 or more penalties in the attacking zone will kill you. Definitely it would get Carbo trying to think outside the box more.

LD: MARKOV - RD: Someone who can shoot.
I cannot wait until Carbo brightens up and sticks A. Kost/Hammer in at that RD position

Brisebois is just brutal. Cant stand that guy anymore. So many braincramps for a veteran defenseman like him.

Even when the whole team looks bad, he raises his play and finds a way of looking more brutal. Gotta love the team spirit.

2) Kovalev should get confident now!

3) Kovalev's goal was awesome, shot it up

4) Price is back : D

i couldnt see the game guys but how did we play? 2 goals and 26 shots allowed seems like we played well defensively but 2 goals against the blues, seems like we sucked again on offence. Did our skill forwards again dump the puck when they were suppose to keep it and play a "puck possession" game or was it something else?

Last year Habs would've destroyed the Blues if they were given that many power plays! That is all. (I would actually get up and go get some food when we got a powerplay, because I knew we'd just end up getting a penalty ourselves )

maybe you should eat a little less. Doesn't sound very healthy.

Komi's injured, so we don't have much of a choice here. Putting Dandy is the only other option and im not sure if it'd be much better.

It is frustrating, but nothing we can do for now.

I was scratching my head with some decisions though. Lappy has been maybe our most consistent player since the beginning of the season with Kosto, so I didn't understand why he was scratched tonight.
Putting Kosto with Plek/Higgy is kind of a no no. But we saw Dandy with Koivu last year and Streit as well, so I guess I'm not too surprised.

When I say the way they're playing makes me sick, I mean it literally.

Carbo had no choice, he has to bench some guys, send them a message

For some of you in this thread that wanna bash Carbo's decisions, he gets paid the big bucks, not you, he's played in the NHL, not you, he made the final call, not you. So why do you guys think it's okay to bash everything he does, it's beyond me.

How long did Kosto last on the second line?

Chris Lee is a terrible ref. How the NHL doesn't see this is beyond me.

Habs walk away with another win though undeserved. Having to go to shootout after all the powerplays that they had against a team like St-Louis is an embarassment. Considering the Blues didn't play particularly well and Kariya & Macdonald were hurt.

The only real positive is that Kostitsyn put up some points and had a decent game. Other than that there weren't many standouts from a positive POV. Negatively...well I don't want to bash anyone, but let's just say the guys seemed to be going through the motions and expending minimal effort.

PP needs to get adjusted. Markov isn't doing much on the right hand side. I may have said it earlier in the year, but he just isn't doing it as the trigger man. Moving him back to the LH side could be a start.

I like that Carbo was juggling the lines a bit, but nobody seemed to really click that much. I'd like to see him try this though, I'm pretty sure I didn't see these combos today:

A.Kost-Plekanec-S.Kost
Tanguay-Koivu-Lats
Higgins-Lang-Kovalev

Love the lineup. Carbo's lines often make me feel sick but as long as he keeps AKost away from Kovalev I think we are heading in the right direction.

Meh, game wasn't that bad. 2 points is 2 points.

We weren't superstars last year. I have a feeling some people talk about last season as if we were just too amazing.
We had bad games last year, we had games where we didn't score on the PP.

How many times did we also say if Price or Huet aren't phenomenal, we won't win.

any time you go 0-10 on the power play and still pull out a win is a very positifs sign going forward. The important thing is that this team finds ways to win games with out the power play because there is just no way are power play is going to be silent all year. You want your power play to be at its best in the playoffs.

Detroit lost time and time again vs the Hawks last season. Facing a weaker team doesn't mean an easy win, far from it.

If the Habs undeserved the W tonight, neither did the Blues. So who deserves it?..Nobody??..
The Blues had the 2nd best PP in the league before tonight and they were 1 in 9 tonight. Is that good for the 2nd best PP??..

Stop living in the past, our PP this season is not good. Not scoring on it doesn't mean we don't deserve a Win.

We did not have a particularly good game, but we didn't get dominated. There was 18penalties given in this game, it doesn't help either team to establish their rhythm. This made both team look bad.

We won, A.Kost got a goal and an assist. Kovy scored in shootouts, Price wasn't bad even though he wasn't tested. Those are good things.
