Gotta love Joel Bouchard's between-period replay analysis!

He understands the game VERY well, from a D's perspective which is something you don't often get on TV. And he usually calls out who needs to be called out, without much bias at all.

you right
He is the only one that I actually watch, the rest are all annoying, Benny is plain awful with a very limited vocabulary.

Took him 3X 20 minutes to get it right :
- in the first it was LAgacé
- in the 2nd it was Ligaci (huh?)
- and FINALLY in the 3rd he got it right a few times, Legace!

Good job Ben!!

Former hockey players in the booth in and around the Habs' broadcast teams are Danny Dube, Murray Wilson, Bouchard, Brunet.

One is not like the other 3.

Wilson and Brunet are both bland and boring.

RDS should hire the next generation of broadcast hockey guys. Guys with a sane state of mind that are objective and bring new angles to make the viewers understand what it's all about. I'm telling you if I had the job I would assemble this squad of no non-sens effective professionals like it has never been seen on Quebec sport television. I would snatch Pierre Lebrun from CBC for his contacts. I would hire Sportsnet's Louis Jean for his overall skills but he would be there doing interviews with players between periods. The guy possesses a good mastery of the english language along with french.

I wish...

I really think Habs fans like to complain

Last year it was Pedneault
Now it's Brunet

But, I have to admit that I can't stand Brunet anymore too lol

it has nothing to do with pride, the guy knows some (a lot of) stuff, but he isn't the god of hockey like he himself and everyone on this board seem to think.

Joe Canale coached a canadian WJC team to the finals and I still don't want him as an analyst, what is the point?...

He is alright, all I said was that he annoys me more then Joel, especially on la zone, because he thinks he has all right answers.
I never said he was bad, certainly better then Yvon, probably better then Benoit, but many would be disappointed if they would listen him 82 games, IMO.

The quality of French in Sports broadcasting.

It is really bizarre how much emphasis French Canadians put on the quality of the spoken word in sports braodcasting. I do not mean this to be a flame, just that it always comes up on the French side, but never on the English side.

Regarding Brunet, you cannot pleasee everyone all the time.

In the world of hockey, everyone thinks they have incredible knowledge and could do a better job. I mean, seriously, many people bash Pierre McGuire. I mean, come on.

As for Joel Bouchard, I think he is doing a pretty good job. One thing to watch with him is the incredible amount of gestures he does with his hands. Just for kicks, turn the volume off and watch him... you can see when he is reving up, ready to talk.... then BLAMO!!!! The hands are in full orgasmic gesture mode!

I like Brunet a lot more than Pedneault. At least, Benoit and Pierre only talk about hockey and that's what I want to hear when I watch a game. I don't want to hear about F-1, Pedneault's family's or friend's birthday or whatever. Brunet and Houde only talk about hockey and even if Brunet is far from perfect, I like him more. I don't miss Pedneault at all.

Ok, most ppl in here are English, so they watch CBC.
Yvon was/is on CBC last night.
They are asking to get Brunet off the air, and put back Yvon on RDS.
mmmmmm

I guess some people have forgotten how bad Pedneault was towards the end. Brunet is not great but he at least concentrates on the game.

Gilles Tremblay was horrendous when he first started. He spoke French like Luc Gelinas speaks English, got his words mixed up sometimes and was awkward in front of a mike. In time, his vocabulary improved and he became a first class analyst. With that in mind, I'm willing to cut Brunet some slack.

I often do that and it's quite funny, not just for Bouchard. The way Demers' incredible plastic elastic face trembles and quivers is quite the scene. The way sportascasters sit behind their little desks getting all excited is pretty good too. They all look like Muppets, but with better make-up.

I've always liked Demers, he's a heart on his sleeve type of guy, but lately, I can't watch the intermissions or pre-game. I find that with the hyper focus we have now, what is there to say ? I can't say that I've watched a complete intermission feature all year, maybe once on TSN as they get outside of th egame you're watching a bit.

Overall though, I think I've gotten media overload . I like Houde, Brunet doesn't make the game any better or worse for me, I would miss play by play if it wasn't offered but all the talking heads, it's just too much now. I tend to use the pvr watching games, and I start watching a bit late, or watch something else for 15 minutes, just to avoid it all.
