OT- RDS vs. Lapierre

Did anyone catch what Lapierre said about Carbo or his team mates, they showed a clip where he was interviewed, and Demers on sports 30 absolutely ripped him up. I just don't know what it was about, something regarding knowing your place etc...

you beat me to it by a couple of sec....

Lappierre was interviewed saturday after the game and he said to Chantal Machabée that apperently Laraque told him to NOT start any fires and concentrate on his game, Demers said that if he doesn't think he needs to play the agitator to play in the NHL, that his career would be cut short or elsewhere, and that Laraque needed to shut the **** up, mind his own business, concentrate on what he had to do, especially at 1.5 mil a season, and let Carbo coach the team like he's paid to do. Even if most of the time i can't stand Demers, he's dead on about that one. He also he thinks the coach got the message and that's why Lappierre and Laraque have both not played the last 2 games

Chantal asked him if his role changed and Maxim answer that Laraque told him not to start a fire if it's not needed and to play hockey. In other word, to stop doing his pest job.

So Demers went nuts and said that both Lapierre and Laraque should stop trying to be the coach and start playing their own game and do their jobs. That Laraque has no buiness telling Lapierre what do to. He also said that Carbo and the coaching staff most likely heard of the interview and did'nt like it at all and that's why both aren't in the line up since then.

If Lapierre isn't stirring **** he's pretty expendable... Laraque is giving him pretty bad career advice.

Didn't Laraque say when he got here that he's here to fight his teammate's battles? Well just do it...

No wonder the team's in a rut. Players are telling each other what to do? Come on guys! And Guy, get your head out of your ass and go tell Lapierre to agitate and BGL to back him up.

Lapierre will never make it long term in this league simply playing a plumber game.

But his game is starting fires isnt it? Isnt Lapierre at his best when he's getting under the opponents skin?

Im not saying he should be out there diving and throwing cheapshots, but finish your checks and yap a little. The Habs could use some intensity.

actually, and even though is isnt BGL's job to tell Lapierre what to do, he's right...

there's a time for everything, "agitating" all the time can only makes him look like a fool while chosing when and how can make him a valuable player.

I think that as long as Lapierre is center he needs to concentrate more on playing hockey... if he was a winger he'd have less responsibilities and could be more of a pest but having a slower guy like Laraque on his line means he needs to concentrate on the defensive side of the play more as opposed to just running around and stirring the pot.

I agree here.
Could be that Lapierre could be getting Laraque into trouble during games. Laraque lives by the code and may feel that he shouldn't always have to fight Lapierre's battles.

Lapierre hasn't been fulfilling his pest role since his first year in the league. Now he thinks he's a sniper.

I said a while ago, he's going to become the next Bulis for this team.
Thinking his role should be as a scorer instead.

It wouldn't bother me if he was hitting, or blocking shots, or fighting...but he doesn't do any of those. I thought his "agitation" game was the only thing keeping him in the lineup over Chipchura because we didn't really have anyone like that. Now that he's stopped being a pest, I'm not quite sure what his role is here anymore.

I think it's the opposite. Laraque at 32 and weighing 260lbs doesn't want more icetime. He doesn't want Lapierre to light up all kinds of little fires that he Laraque will have to put out.
