Its true that the Pens and Oilers fans already warned us of George "the Pacifist" Laraque

Lats should be standing there and just like last playoffs vs Philly, the only one jumping in to do it right now in the last few games is Koivu. Why is one our smaller guys doing what TK, Lats or Lang should be doing, ****, even if Laraque did it, he'll get some goals this season.

I'll repeat myself again. Did you watch Shanahan play last season? Go to the Rangers board and ask them. He's not that player anymore. He can still be effective, yes, but not in the role you're asking him to do. You think Shanahan is getting better as the years go by? Not to mention that he's been out of hockey for a bit now, and it would take him even longer to get back into it because of his age.

The only thing he'd become is the next scapegoat.

We're going to trust the Rangers? A team that is paying Redden 6.5 mill?

The fact Shanny went from 100+ PIM to 47/35 in his last 2 seasons leads me to believe the NYR fans..

When Gilmour was here.. he was a shell of his former self.. but he was still an important player because of the leadership he brought and how hard he played. He set a good example.

If this is true, is would not be the worst idea. I think what we lack now, is leadership. It seems we have great talent but no orchestra leader. While I question Shannys fitness level and quality of play, I would be willing to give it a shot. He ca't be worse then Latendresse.

Wrong it was that hockey genious Marinaro. I would guess it is friend Marshall who fed him this stuff. What a bunch of clowns they got at that station.

Besides, we have no idea what goes on and what's being said behind closes doors so I guess that point is moot for both sides.

Either way, I still think that calling up rookies would do a great deal more than signing another washed up vet merely to provide "leadership". If there isn't enough leadership in the roster we have with guys like Koivu, Komisarek, Higgins, Hamrlik, Kovalev, even Gorges, then we're even worse than I thought.
I agree. I think we've already emptied that gun anyway by getting Lang. Adding Shanahan would just make it even harder to call up a rookie or land a big player at the deadline (or before). I don't think another expensive but declining veteran is what the team needs.

Tonight on 110% Pednault said Gainey isn't with the team.

Julien Brisebois is (supposedly) travelling with them for the time being.

I'm not saying it has anything to do with Shanahan.

Just thought I'd throw it out here.

The Habs have no heart or pride at the moment.

I think a warrior/leader like Shanny would be great for the team.

Waive Begin and Dandenault.
Trade Higgins, McDonagh and a prospect for a guy like Bouwmeester
Sign Shanhan under 2 000 000$
Call back D'Agostini or Chipchura or Pacioretty and see what they bring.

Tanguay-koivu-Shanhan
Kovalev-Lang-Kostitsyn
D'Agostini-Plekanec-Latendresse
kostopoulos-Lapierre/Chipchura-Laraque/Pacioretty

Bouwmeester-Markov
Hamrlik-Komisarek
Bouillon-Gorges
O'Byrne
Brisebois

I know there is 1 or 2 to many players, but this is only a example

The top 3 line with size on it.

I didn't want Shanny at first, but the way Habs are playing lately, I wouldn't say no. However, one of Begin or Dandy has to go first. Hopefully, he could cost us for less than 1.5M to play 40-50 games + playoff.

With Shanahan, Montreal would become a slow team.

Latendresse, Laraque, Shanahan ...

I am pretty sure that BG is looking for someone to play with Plecks and Higgins, Kosto is just a temp on that line, and BG is not happy with Tender's performance so far.

Yeah, like Gainey was a loud leader when he was captain.

we're not a fast team anymore. We also have Koivu, Tanguay, LANG, and Kostopoulos taking up considerable minutes. Someone told me Tanguay is fast but I haven't seen it.

That's six of the 14 forwards that are average at best.

Great idea.

You know he is UFA at the end of the year eh?

and secondly.... why would you send a first line winger (or 2nd line if you prefer) and a blue chip prospect on D who you drafted and want tot groom as your future cornerstone for a guy you can lose at the end of the year.
