Milan Hejduk. I mean lets face it. If any team is going into rebuilding mode, it's Colorado. This guy's a right winger who could help our pp and would look great next too Gomez or Drury. And if the asking price is too steep for him then how about inquiring about Smyth. Maybe he'll like Manhattan better than LI, idk? The whole league knows, even though Sakic signed on for one more year, this team is dead and needs to start all over. Any thoughts?

If Rozsival goes the other way, sure. I like Hejduk's game, and wouldn't mind seeing him in a Rangers jersey at all.

EDIT: Inferno, he makes 3.9 mill/year this year and the next, then is UFA.

Hejduk, yeah I think he'd be a nice fit here. Smyth, no thanks.

Didn't Hejduk state that he wanted to retire when his contract expired, and he wanted it to expire in Colorado? I think he really likes it there, and with the way he and Statsny are playing, I doubt he gets moved.

I think if we're going to get a bona-fide scorer on the wings from someone we're going to get dragged over the coals, or a team is going to have to be desperate to acquire a player like Rozsival or Prucha which is hard to imagine at this point.

However, I still believe that there is chemistry within this team, it's just a matter of when it clicks. Naslund and Zherdev are quality wingers, and Dawes and Korpikoski (who looked better on the wing IMO) have a considerable amount of talent as well. It's just a matter of everyone putting it together at the same time.

I wonder what that'd do to the locker room though. KT & Drury both went to BU(different years though, never together), don't remember them ever playing together on the US squads though.

I think Frolov makes more sense.

He is being relegated to "checking line" duties, even though he is tied for second on the team in scoring.

Contract expires after 09/10.

3.5 this year
4.0 next year

http://www.nhlnumbers.com/overview.p...AK&season=0809

LW, size, skill, young, AVG 23.4 goals over last 5 years on bad teams.

I'd like to get him here and lock him up with Zherdev, Dubinsky, and Staal.

To get Frolov here would cost an arm and a leg and im guessing one of Dubinsky or Staal would have to be included in the package going the other way.

They played on the 02 and 06 Olympic team together (and Gomez in 06).

Hmm. Good to know. I don't recall them being on the same line though.

Another route would be to acquire someone with a little sandpaper and some skill.

Like Tuomo Ruutu.

Who is a baggage-less version on Avery.

Although i doubt Carolina let's him go.

Prucha+Dawes or Fritsche+2009 3rd = T.Ruutu?

Naslund-Gomez-Drury
Voros-Dubinsky-Zherdev
Ruutu-Korpikoski-Callahan
Sjostrom-Betts-Orr

Keep rolling 4 lines.

Who knows, seems like a lateral move.

Funny you said that monkey, I was watching the Canes-Habs game last night thinking the same thing.

But i'd put him with Dubie & Zman. Voros goes to the 3rd line.

Plus he has a lot of underrated skill.

If he could just put it all together.

He is "on pace" for a career year this year though, so doubtful that Carolina would let him go at this point.

But then again... you never know.

I would kill to get Hejduk on this team, but I doubt we can get him. He's happy in Colorado and would cost us a decent amount.

it could be considered lateral but it would be kind of like meshing prucha, dawes, and fritsche all into one player. I'd be up for that kind of trade.

Frolov would be great but I'm not sure what we would have to give up... as someone else said. He'd be a great addition though.

I was also thinking about Marty St. Louis. Tampa is desperate for a puck moving D-man right now. They have Steve Eminger, who they just picked up off waivers, heading up PP1.

There has always been some grumbling about Marty the last few years about trading him and he and Roz make the same amount. They also have a little cap space, so the deal could include Prucha or Dawes. St. Louis contract is only 2 more years.

Gomer and Marty could be a mean duo.
