Rogers and CBC...you should be hung.

I know it doesn't bother everyone who is back home or does have access to RDS HD, but for those who are away for school/work in Ontario and who have rogers (and i know we've been ranting for over a year now), we dont get to see Sat night's game in HD! If you have an HD tv btw, RDS looks like a nintendo game...absolutely horrible resolution, it's hard to tell if we score sometimes. That aside, as usual CBC is playing the leafs game everywhere. WTF. It's one of the greatest goalies having his jersey required PLUS a HUGGGGGGGE rematch. Oh yeah, sure, they wanna watch Kane and toeves and co. Everyone east of Ottawa will get the CBC feed from the BC, but the rest of us, with no RDS HD, will have to suffer through another one. They do this all the time to us for jersey retirements. Clearly nothing can be done because quite frankly they dont care and "we" are a minority, but caulisee de sacrement, this is a game CDC should be featuring PRIME TIME. No leafs. Just Habs-Bruins and St Patrick.

please tell me i've erred and they are showing it!

Just watch on regular RDS then?
HD is ridiculously overrated.

I struggle to watch games not in HD these days. Once you've watched hockey in HD, you get spoiled and never want it any other way.

I live in the Ottawa region and I just cancelled Rogers and got Starchoice installed. Best choice I've made in my whole life . I couldn't stand the RDS quality anymore and RDS HD is the best thing ever. Blame Rogers for not carrying RDS HD.

I'm stuck with RDS on Rogers in Toronto and the quality is really bad. Better than nothing and no work on Rogers getting RDS HD. I'd switch to Bell but my condo doesn't allow dishes

Rogers is the evil empire of Ontario...

I mostly lurk quietly around here, but thought I would chime in to say I agree 100% with this thread. The RDS-SD feed on Rogers is just brutal on an HDTV, and it is a disgrace that Rogers hasn't been more proactive in working out a deal with CTV/Bell Globemedia to get this done. It's already been over a year, and sadly there is no reason to believe anything will change anytime soon.

To add further salt to the wound, Rogers forces us to take the entire Variété package ($6.95) including a few other useless channels... just to settle for the overcompressed RDS quality.

I am sure this contract impasse is the same reason Rogers hasn't picked up TSN2 either. I presume if they ever reach a settlement, we will see both of these channels appear at the same time. At least we hope.

I also live in a SW-facing condo and would not be allowed to mount a dish on the front of the building... not that I would want to, however, as my dislike for Bell is even greater than Rogers.

I'm the same way, it's just not the same after watching all the games in HD if you have to switch back to normal TV.

I watch the Rogers RDS feed in my bedroom on my smaller flat panel HDTV so it's not as brutal. Wife likes it as she gets the big TV.

Anyone else listen in on cjad.com and play the pause the hdpvr game until it's in sync? My French is pasable but I left "home" Montreal a while ago and would rather not listen to RDS.

On the bright side when we're lucky enough to get a Habs game on HDTV (TSN, CBC when they play the Leafs) it's pure joy...

Spoken like someone who doesn't have an HD setup.

How can you say such things? My god SD is horrible to watch on an HD tv. Given the choice, I don't think there's one person that would choose SD over HD.

Well I guess on an HD TV. But I've watched HD (on an HD TV) and my regular crappy SD TV. It really doesn't bug me though, as long as the colours are bright (usually NBC makes everything look gray).

I JUST realized that I won't be able to watch the ceremony or the game. I thought for sure CBC would play it, but out here in Victoria we're all apparently Leaf fans. In fact, everywhere outside of Quebec are Leaf fans.

I suppose I should have assumed I wouldn't get to see it, but I'm just livid right now.

No dice only the Quebec feed gets the Habs game.

Well, I know it ain't the same, but worst case scenario, you could always buy the game on rds.ca for 2.99$ and watch it on the computer. It ain't cheap but I guess for that game it's worth it.

Its like going on a date with Jessica Alba, then coming home to Amy Winehouse.

$2.99??? That's half of my last paycheque! haha.

Thanks for the info! I'll probably do that.

Me and you both

CBC disappoints yet again. I am so sick of their pro-Toronto bias.

I hope the Wendel Clark ceremony is in HD!!!

Above average power forward >>>> Greatest goaltender of all-time*

(Arguably)

Seriously how in the hell can you have these two ceremonies on the same night? Shame on whoever screwed up here because this is just stupid.
