it is a disgrace that we are paying CBC via our taxes and making the laughs wealthier in the process

i'd rather see it go towards a good cause....like our health care

The Roy ceremony starts at 6:00pm EST and will be carried on the CBC. I'm guessing Clark's won't have nearly as much pomp and pagentry as Roy's since it starts at 7:00pm. TO doesn't officially retire numbers I imagine their ceremony will be much shorter.

From the article on NHL.com about the whole situation:

Quote:
Here's the lineup:

6 p.m. -- Roy number retirement ceremony (U.S.)
6:30 p.m. -- Hockey Night in Canada pregame, featuring live Roy coverage
7 p.m. -- Boston at Toronto, featuring live Clark ceremony
There is obviously a mistake about Boston at Toronto, but from I gather the Clark ceremony will start at 7:00pm.

I have a question, with CBC's online player, I can watch the game for free. So if I come home on break at work, get the game loaded and paused it.. then came home after work is finished and pressed play, I could watch the whole game, essentially taped?

i dont think you can do that as it is a live stream and once unpaused it would play from the point where the game is at, rather than play from beginning.

Basically, it's not Tivo.

hate to be the bearer of bad news mate, but it doesnt work that way

its a live stream, so if u were to do that when u got back home and pressed play u would get a screen saying "this broadcast is finished"

Why wouldn't these two clubs compare notes so they don't have retirement ceremonies on the same nights?

I don't actually know when the Clark "honouring" or whatever was planned (I was made aware in this thread that it was even going to happen), but clearrrrly the Habs had stated when Roy's ceremony was,
11+12 = 33, etc. If what i understood was true, then it may not be a complete loss after all IF we DO get to see the Roy ceremony on CBC Nationwide before they go to Toronto for the game against Chi. Leafs/CBC (same thing) conspiracy to try to dilute a huge Habs event? seriously...why on earth would you have them on the same night? I feel bad for Wendel, his thunder is being stolen without a doubt. Wish TSN had access to this game.

I totally agree, and not just with hockey, with all sports. Also, with an LCD or plasma, regular definition channels appear more pixelated because the HD tuners decompress the standard definition signal at a higher bitrate than is intended. So, watching it on the low-d channel is near excruciating.

wow - same problem - I thought for sure they were going to show it out here as well

From what I understand they're going to have both the habs and leafs games on at the Sticky Wicket. Just in case you're looking for a spot to watch it.

Certainly not for someone with an HDTV (duh!).

Thank you very much

Believe it or not...CBC is not showing the Roy ceremony until it is 30 mins in. They are really going to piss a lot of people off tonight. They are showing the news...even though they had half an hour after the Sens game to show that.

wow....

we need to boycott those A holes....

By the time CBC is on, Roy's ceremony will be over...

and yet they will show 100% of Wendy "Gay" Clark

unbelievable....Wendy is not even 1/10th what Patrick Roy was

Message to CBC:

The CBC is a disgrace. Not to tune in to Patrick Roy's retirement until half an hour in....and again in typical CBC fashion 100% of Wendel's ceremony will be shown.

Thanks again. I can always count on the CBC for a dissapointment. You would think you guys would have learned your lesson last year when you skipped out on another great's ceremony.

I did not even get to watch the game. Rogers/Centre Ice was having some sort of problem. I hope they don't screw up like this again

You can see the whole ceremony on rds.ca. Just click on zone video and then on patrick roy. The two videos that cbc didn't showed were awesome.
