It won't make sense from an NYR POV, considering they would need to drop more salary.

rozy + prucha < blake + white in salary, last time I checked.

5 + 1.4 < 4 + .95

Yeah...

I said they would need to drop more salary. I know that Prucha makes more than White, and Blake makes less than Rozsival. Maybe, I should say it, so you can understand what I actually say. Rozsival would need to garner someone who makes less than ~2 million than him. Rozsival makes 5 million, btw. And Prucha would be traded for picks or prospects instead of a roster player.

Rozy has as much value as Blake has (minimal if any)

Prucha doesn't produce in NYR, Blake doesn't produce in TOR.

White and Prucha are both RFAs next year.

White can do Rozy's job on the third pairing while costing the Rangers 1/5 of what Rozy costs.

Are you having a math malfunction? Rangers get ~1.5mil in cap space to play with. Why would they drop MORE salary? With your current space + that 1.5, you have ~3.5mil in dead space.

What could you possibly need more salary for, Sundin?

No, we would need more salary for Zherdev, Dubinsky, Callahan, Dawes, Sjostrom, Korpikoski, and Fritsche, and the year after for Staal, and Girardi. 3.5 would gives us probably on Dubinsky to re-sign which would mean that we lose our top winger, and our bottom 6, and all of our UFA's, Mara, Kalinin, Orr, and Betts. It is a lot more complicated than A, and B for C and D. I never said it was a bad trade, actually I wouldn't mind it considering Blake is can put the puck in the net, and White is capable for the bottom pairing on a defense.

You would have 30.3 million next year to sign your 3 of your top 4 wingers, middle d-pairing, and most of the bottom six forwards. That's 12 guys for 30.3 million dollars, assuming the cap stays the same. Oh, that's not including dumping Prucha and Rozy. So, 31.8mil for 10 guys.

Zherdev, 4-5 mil
Dubi 3.5-4 mil
Callahan, Sjostrom, Korpi, Fristche, 2mil each max... doubt they'll be offered more than that.
White will stay cheap. Maybe 1.5, maybe not.

Okay, you've got 7/10 out of the way, with 17.5mil of 31.8 million gone.

Your situation is less dire than you honestly think it to be. I think there are two middle pairing D-men who you could sign for a combined 8 mil somewhere in the UFA pool. Leaving you with a cool 10 mil to sign Dawes and whatever other UFAs the Rangers need.

Oh yeah. And Valiquette/backup goalie.

And in two years? Yeah, I think you can float 4 mil in cap space til then or make a deadline trade based on play to move a bit of salary around to re-sign Staal and Girardi to sane contracts.

Oh, and I forgot, you'll have Blake playing too. Somewhere.

What are you talking about? We'll have around 9-10 mil at most next offseason, even with that trade.

Right?:
We have under $1 mil in cap right now, and then:
Zherdev = 2.5
Prucha = 1.6 = 4.1
****Voros = 1.0 = 5.1
Pissmiller = 1.0 = 6.1
Korpedo = .95 = 7.05
Fritsche = .87 = 8.92
Sjostrom = .84 = 9.76
Dubinsky = .63 =10.39
Betts = .61 = 11.00
Dawes = .58 = 11.57
Callahan = .57 = 12.14
Orr = .53 = 12.67
Kalinin = 2.1 = 14.77
Mara = 1.9 = 16.67
Valiquette = .72 = 17. 39

Sorry, added Voros by mistake.
Around ~17 mil in cap space.

My bad, sorry.

He is right though, it isn't that bad if we trade Rozsival.

Your way off on your math skills. If Rozsival were in the lineup and let's just say
Dubinsky--3.75
Zherdev--5
Callahan--1.5
Dawes--1
Korpikoski--1.5
Fritsche--1
Sjostrom--1
Orr--600k
Betts--700k
Valiquette--725k
Mara--2 mil
Kalinin--2 mil

That would make the New York Rangers salary at ~61 million dollars. The cap is expected to be at around $55 mil.

NHL numbers...

Well I guess NHL numbers screwed something up on their lovely calculations. Stupid numbers. -.- I apologize for the previous posts.

I guess it's not counting Redden, Naslund, or Rozy's cap next year on the site. Woo.

So, I honestly have no idea where you guys are getting all this extra cap that you think you have.
I'm on IB's site, and when I added in the RFA and UFA predicted #'s I got 61 mil.

We have more than 24.659 tied up next season, we'll have 37.675 tied up next year. If the cap goes down to 55 mil, then we'll have around 17 mil, like I said before.

I think it's total salary, which varies from year to year.
