We went to the Cup Finals as him being our #1 defenseman....Redden sucked that year. He was just on the PP. This year, to me, Phillips is trying to work on his offensive game but it just doesn't work that much for him.

He's a 15 point guy who shuts down other teams lines every game. He's a very good complimentary #1 pairing guy.

Also, I have a feeling that if we trade Vermette, it's going to come back and bite us in a real bad way. The guy has so much skill but just can't finish, somehow. Unlucky bounces or just not his luck [same thing, I guess]. And watching him penalty kill is a treat to watch.
Vermette+Foligno for Whitney +2nd round pick. Helps both sides. This is assuming whitney comes back and plays well.

Does Vermette for Klesla straight up still get it done?

If not, what do you want for Vermette and/or Phillips (who was rumored by Ottawa's paper to be on the way here anyway a couple weeks ago)?

Chris Phillips got his game back for the last three. Hold off until he starts playing like crap again. The same goes for Vermette. Kelly is expendable to me, though.

i don't really want to trade phillips, i really like him but if you look at the cap numbers for next year, and if you assume we want a high end d man(bouwmeester) than it comes down to phillips or Kuba (depending on what Kuba wants). I think we are better off with Kuba. But if you let Kuba walk you can keep phillips, so it depends on what you think i guess

Boston would love Vermette.

Would Lashoff+ be sufficient? What does Ottawa need?

as much as i love the thought of vermette on the flyers its pretty much briere for vermette plus. or nothing or is vermette capable of playing wing? i thought he was a very solid defensive center with offensive upside. lupul hasnt been great so far but its still early and its a very deep team. with carter and gagne scoring a ton then richards hartnell knuble around six goals. you cant expect lupul to pot a ton too. moving briere would be the best avenue i think but thats my opinion.

so possibly vermette and... for briere and jones.....roughly 8m is alot so jones could stay or move in another trade.
knuble cannon gagne
upshall carter lupul
nodl vermette hartnell
asham metro gratton

timmonen sbisa
coburn carle
parent vanny.

Vermette would be good for Hawks but all we could offer is a bad contract (Sopel) and some picks or a good prospect (Skille)
