It's not about blame, the Habs are snakebitten right now. When things are going well, they would have won the last 2 games easily. against Boston with any finish they could have scored 4-5 goals...tonight like 8-10. They had macDonald down and out like 15 times, including in the shootout when A.Kost shot on his pad.

the screw up on Kostystyn's goal was also big...that would have made it 4-1.

Agreed, he makes some really dumb rookie mistakes and gets outcoached all the time. His line matchups are laughable. 123412341234

Anyone in mind that could replace him?

You don't think the fact that it's his job that he gets paid a ton of money for justifies the fact that his "customers" (us fans, indirectly) expect him not to make bonehead mistakes?

If I am at home making a souffle and it turns out bad, it's ok, I'm not a chef.

If I am a professional chef cooking for a restaurant that's been around for 100 years and which is packed every single night with customers paying high dollar and I put out a lousy souffle, of course I deserve to get nailed for it and I could even get sent down to the salad station for a couple of weeks.

While it's not the end of the world, O'Byrne's mistake still cost the team a game. It's not something that should just be ignored. If I show up to the work drunk and promptly throw up all over an important client, that wouldn't be ignored. At this point, Weber or Carle should be given a look (on a temporary basis, at least).

Great, he's on CJAD now.

"I put it back to Pricey" ... nice! the pass to the goalie! that's a nice standard hockey play, right out of the textbook! good on ya boy!

"happens to everybody" ... right... it happens to about 3 players in a decade, max.

He robbed us of a win like he robbed that lady of her purse last year.

He's a rookie who made a mistake. This is just a sports game and that the teams been around for 100 years or is packed every night doesn't make any difference. If you feel the need to be an ******* and set that example for your kids, great. If the fact that youwillingly paid a ticket that you knew was overpriced justifies that behavior, then great for you again.

A win against Detroit Wednesday would make everybody forget about O'Byrne.......that's what the team needs to focus on....and fix the PP, and the PK....they both reek.

lol@CJAD for playing Bob Marley's "every little thing is gonna be alright" as background music to the sounds of the play-by-play on the O'Byrne blooper.

You must be a freaken fortune teller. What tells you that the Islanders wouldn't of tied it up later. O'Byrne is a easy scapegoat, for the intellectually lazy.

You can argue that he might not be ready, or he could benefit from a stint in Hamilton. His play certainly warrants that. As Whitesnake has been posting on a few threads, the blame can be share by Gainey and Carbo for putting him in a situation that he is not ready for. But to spew venom and boo the kid is just plain ignorant of what it takes to play at this level and reminds me about the worst of the current human condition.

Who said anything about booing him? I just think that pretending it didn't happen wouldn't be right...

Dude, I am having a perfectly fine morning out here in the Orient. I love my Habs and, as I wrote earlier, I hope O'Byrne comes back stronger one day and will be a part of a solid defensive corps for the Habs.

I just don't like excuses and empty words like "it happens to everyone" ... "it happens to the best of us" because that's just so irrational and obviously incorrect. He made a huge mistake at a bad time.

I agree with Carbo that there are larger issues that need to be fixed, especially the PP and Kovalev (I didn't see this game, but I've seen pretty much every other game this season) but O'Byrne has not been great this season and now just reached a new low... And a very low low at that.

if i had a dollar for every time chelios put the puck in his own net i'd be able to buy a few nice dinners.

so this one might have looked a little worse than normal because the goalie was pulled and it cost the team a point. but chelios cost his team a playoff series because of one.

not saying o'b is chelios but he should get a little slack.

It's strange how the Islanders killed us. So not penalty for them and it's a win!
