Bill Clinton a Habs Fan

So I just saw him make a presentation on the world economic crisis in Moncton today.

After the speech, local favorite Frank McKenna came out and did a Q&A with Bill and asked what was his favorite hockey team, to which he replied without hesitation: "The Montreal Canadiens"

He also likes the Yanks and the Giants and finds out that hockey brings out emotions like no other sport.

Well from an american team to a canadian team is no small feat, even more so for a former president.

Would Moncton not have a higher percentage of Montreal fans then any other NHL team?

Maybe he heard there were a lot of French speaking people in New Brunswick and wanted to sound cool. Not that Bill Clinton needs to try to look cool, he's the original saxophone-playing, intern-violating pimp. Nothing cooler then that.

... it is possible he actually likes the Habs too

Dude isn't running for anything, what's he care? Politicians carefully never answer that question unless they're actually from that town or shamelessly pandering (there are some videos of Palin giving the exact same speech about loving local sports teams all over the country)... when they're running for something. Clinton isn't, thus he may not be lying

I am baffled that Obama doesn't get more grief for all the photos of him in a White Sox cap though. What do Cubs fans think?

Yeah, he also briefly mentioned the liked the history of the team and the ambiance of the Bell Center (to which he segwayed from the emotions of hockey)
