Take it for what it's worth. Zinovjev is extremely talented (part of the deadly ZZM line in Russia with Zaripov and Morozov) but he's apparently got attitude problems, doesn't like physical play, and probably doesn't want to play in the AHL either. The Bruins tried many times to bring him over after they drafted him to no avail. In fact he still might be Bruins property...but they drafted him back in 2000 and never signed him so the rights may have expired, I'm not sure.

Seems like a very weird fit if it's true but hey, who knows. We're also apparently going after Rob Schremp
I thought we traded him to Toronto...

He made a sick pass to Samsonov for a goal and everyone thought we had our 2nd line (after the 700lb. one). Then he disappeared for 9 games, was asked to go to Providence and refused. This was after we waited a long time for him to come over.
Summer of '07, Chiarelli tried to get him to come back but money was too high. Bruins lost his rights on July 1, 2008 I believe.
thanks

yea this guy sounds like a keeper

If I were a Canadiens fan, I'd be praying for the unlikely event that this rumour is true.
Zinoviev is a quality 1st line center, irrespective of league.

Anyone able to make a solid comparison based on skill and talent?

Along the lines of Pavel Datsyuk, had he stayed in Russia.

He played 10 games for the Bruins in 03-04. I won't be surprised if he's Bruins property.

Ak Bars? The team owned by the mob? Well, if he has any family or friends, he probably won't be coming.

Look at the GP 53 points in 41 games is really good. Plus I think there is less scoring in russia as a whole so those offensive numbers are deceptively good.

Didn't the Russian newspaper also say that Shanahan turned down a KHL offer because he was going to sign with the Habs?

Russian papers are about as reliable as Eklund.

Speaking of, I give this 2 days before Eky brings it up as a rumor.

you cant compare NHL with KHL numbers....its as efficient as comparing QMJHL numbers with AHL numbers.

If you want to compare his numbers then look at Pavel's numbers overseas at least

I tink we should just get Emelin over so we can have some DEFENSE!!! We don't need more small forwards.

I compared the numbers to basically show that Pavel is a superstar here. Both leagues play two different games; Pavel had to adapt when he went over, while Sergei has played there for years. Simply looking at KHL numbers, it's extremely misleading. Pavels numbers are similar to Sergeis when he played in the Superleague during the lockout, yet doesn't mean he could adapt here. Vinny Lecavalier had 16 points, 7 goals in 30 games. He also had a 108 point season in the NHL. If KHL stats translated to NHL success, Bob wouldn't of hesitated to throw big money at Perehogin, with his 41 point season in 50 games in their league. Whatever, Bob and co. judge talent well and if they're willing to pay him, they probably know whether he's good or not.
