Where did you read that I dislike McDonagh and Subban ?! They have huge potential and could turn into great players.

Plus, Higgins and Chipchura are worth alot according to some people. A future J.Selke winner and future captain + A 30-40 goals scorer, tireless worker with amazing 2-way skills. I think it worth something.

Add to that 2 of the best Habs prospects on Defense and a first rounder... The package is not too shabby

If Atlanta wants to rebuild, it's a package that makes you think IMO.

I know that trades are very few in between with BG. Having said that, I believe that my first proposal was realistic with a few modification if needed. I too want Crosby, Ovy and Malkin but they are not closed to being traded, Kovalchuk on the other hand could be very well traded considering the situation the team(ALT) is in.
They would get a player in Higgins tat is very good two way LW. Latendresse is developing and has 2 years under his belt with good up side. Bouillon gives them a decent d for the rest of the year has they evaluate their team. the picks are for the rebuilt. Dandy has no effect for them.

We get a pure sniper and a decent D

Ilya Kovalchuk is on contract for this season and the next, why would they trade him when they can keep him an extra year before doing it? When they do trade him though, be sure they already tried a contract extension and this would be a gaborik situation. Until next year, they can't talk extension so don't even know if they will trade him.

It doesn't have to be the same way. Look at Thornton for example, orHossa and Heatley. I say it's possible and is way different then Gaborick. He always given Mini a hard time about signing and due to his injure pass, no one GM wants to give in now.

We're giving Higgins 1.7. Chipchura who's on a two-way and doesn't count against the cap in minors, our top defensive prospect, a first round pick and subban/o'byrne(1 mil cap space).

Honestly, even if we send O'byrne and higgins and the rest, that's only 2.7 million and we get 10.9 back. Is this a joke? Seriously? Do you find any opportunity to just say trade anyone who isn't sergei?
Just add Kovalev in the package as a "throw-in" and it should make the balance in the cap space. I don't want Kovalev to resign here anyways. Kovalev could resign with the Thrashers if he wants, I don't care.

In a rebulding team like Atlanta, they should consider it. In the Centennial year of the Habs when the Stanley cup is a must, Kovalchuk replace easilly Kovalev and Hainsey paired with his long time friend Komisarek is a dream come true !!

Please don't post these proposals on the main forum.

Getting Kovalchuk would likely requires

Plekanec
1st 2010
O'Byrne
McDonagh
Pacioretty

And another established player like Higgins or Komisarek.

How 'bout this...

To Montreal: Kovalchuk

To Atlanta: Latendresse, Dandeneault, Lapierre, Brisbois and any other player whose sole purpose on the team is to give the french media a french interview.

Healtley got traded cuz of his accident. He needed a change of scenary. Hossa was what they exchanged for him. Thornton was also different, they felt the team should go in a different direction. As far as I know, they still want ilya there.

2.7+4.5 makes 7.2. We're still off. And either way, you're just crazy.

Kovalev
Higgins
Mcdonagh
O'byrne or Subban
Kyle Chipchura
1st Round Pick

For

Kovalchuk.
Hainsey.

This doesn't even count who we'd have to waive to get the salary cap for it. This is insane. For the **** of it, may I suggest sergei instead or will your delusional world come crashing down?

To Atlanta:

Chris Higgins (he is god to most people)
Kyle Chipchura (A can't miss prospect according to most people)
Ryan McDonagh (Future good 2-way defencemen)
P.K Subban (Future good offensive defencemen) or Ryan O'Byrne
1st round pick 2009

Cap space ? just waive Dandenault, Begin or Laraque.

: Drrrroooool : !!

Liar liar pants on fire. Fans for the most part think Higgins is a solid 2 way guy and wish he put up bigger numbers and many think Chip should be ahead of Lapierre as his awareness surpasses ML's speed. You can't discuss with the big people so you make smartass comments and hide until next time. Esp. when you make stuff up.

As long as Price, Markov, Koivu and A.Kost don't go the other way, so would I. I've already got my Kovalchuk Army shirts, we just need Kovalchuk now

No, not yet at least. After the "I'll get back to you" bit, you need to add on the bit where Waddell then checks what Pittsburgh is willing to offer IMO.

Why would you put Kovalchuk on the right wing?

We'd also have to get Laraque to give him #17 (and not by saying 'okay boys, fight for it').

Whats up with all the Hainsey love? The guy is gonna get booed out of this city. He's overpaid and sucks on defence.Gainey would never make that move especilly him out of all people,if that was the case he woudl have re-signed Streit.

Also stop the Mcdonagh trades please, let's move Fisher but not Ryan who should be our QB for the next couple of years

Good one!

Seriously though. These are not the guys we will win a cup with.
I have no problem with players from Quebec or french speaking players. Guy Lafleur is my hockey idol. I like Tanguay, Begin, Laraque and Boullion (actually I really don't mind Breezer because he is what he is) but Lats, Laps, and Dandy have been given more than enough chances to contribute to this team and they haven't shown, at least to me, that they are getting better in the roles they have been assigned.
Sure Lats ansd Laps are still young and hopefully one day they will be stars in the NHL but this is the year we want the cup and I just can't see that happening with those guys in the lineup. As for Dandy, well he works hard, but working hard and working smart are two completely different things.
All I'm saying is that one of the major determining factors they have a spot on the team is because they speak the french language.
