Maybe not, but "the morons in the Molson Ex section" makes it sound like there are morons only there. I'm sure you'll agree there are morons everywhere, even, god forbid, on this very board.
I think you should have started a thread encouraging posters to drink copious amounts of beer, then started another thread showing highlights from the 6-1 and 6-3 Bruins and Leafs games and then started a thread asking fans to act a certain way at a game.
i agree the booing will not help him and in turn it wont help the team. I remember last year when we lost in the playoffs and price was playing very poorly the crowd cheered him on even in defeat. I think we should do the same for all of our players.
I can live with the booing when he scored in our own net ( i was mad myself ), but for the next game we need to cheer him on.
they shouldnt boo him, it'll just be counter-productive. Forget about O'Byrne, how do you think the rest of the team will feel when the home crowd starts booing one of their own, Price, Gorges, and a few other have already made their sentiments clear about it
I know theres an abundance of O'Byrne threads on the board some good, some bad.
I was as frustrated as any of you O'Byrne haters out there, but nothing should make us boo one of our own (unless you pull a Samsonov). The kid is really fragile right now and if Carbo plays him (which he probably will) in Montreal on Saturday. We should rally and support our players. It was a horrible mistake, but who knows this could be the turning point of his season.
Obviously if he doesnt take this chance to rise up, then a drop in Hamilton could be a good idea, but never boo one of ours.
Anyone with me?
retards and rednecks will boo, there is nothing anybody can do, it is their nature, culture, education.
Honestly, his open net goal against us was just the icing on the cake. Chanting his name in that derisive way by the fans was classless, but at the same time, you have to put yourself in the shoes of the fans who were at the game. I would've been royally pissed too.
I was in those shoes and yes, I was pissed.
Nothing a good night's sleep doesn't cure though.
You shouldn't systematically boo your own players. I've no problems booing the team as a whole when they play like boneheads, or good players on the opposition to try and get them off their game. For some (like Crosby, Chara) it's often a sign of respect actually - of recognition that this is a dangerous player - and as such doesn't really work, but it's fun.
Anyway, despite his difficulties, the team needs O'Byrne to progress and play decently. Booing him will only be a detriment to him and the team and accomplish nothing else.

Ah please enough with the Hockey Mom BS. Fans will boo if it entertains them, that's why they go see those games in the first place, to be entertained.
I don't really care if it's justified or not. When you're in show biz, you have to grow some skin to face this kind of music, otherwise you wouldn't be paid some 50x and more the average salary.
Why are you telling us not to boo? There were 21000 people at the game, maybe a couple thousand of them taunted O'Byrne at the end of the game. Out of the ones who taunted him, there is probably only a hand full of them on here. So really your message is not really going to the right people. There is nothing we can do..
20 000 people at the game. My bet is that a couple hundreds are going to boo... Let's hope some others are going to cheer for him and that they'll be louder.

Its good to see someone with head on their shoulders posting on these boards!
