What would the point be? He's already playing in the NHL.

I'd send Sbisa back. At this point he is not learning anything. Season only started. 20 minutes in minor league is much better then 2 min in 3rd period.

Do the right thing and play Kukkonen now.

Playing Kukkonen is the worst thing they can do.

Since Switzerland was relegated, they won't or should they send him to the WJC's. It's really not worth it.

As much as they should, they also won't send him about to Lethbridge. The fact that he played last night instead of Kukkonen was a joke, he clearly needs the game off. What I said would happen, has been happening for quite a few games now, but they won't acknowledge it to themselves until the team starts losing a few games. I really don't understand it, like I keep saying, I'm no scout or expert of anything, but if it's clearly obvious to me, and I know I'm not the only one, I don't understand why the team doesn't see it. No one in the media even asks them about it.

agreed he needs to sit. no way he should be expected to play 82 games - give him every third game off - the team has enough healthy defenseman to do so - prudence demands that he sits.

I've never typed prudence before

Trade Jones. And i hate to say it b/c alberts has played great but sit him for Parent. Sbisa is even +/- and plays like tonite show u he deserves to be out there.

Switzerland will play without Sbisa at the WJC, he isn't on the final roster for the tournament.

It also would not make sense to go there for playing. The only reason I could see sending him over would be to give him a few days off, let him see his family and/or friends.

Plays like tonight also show you why he shouldn't be out there as well (talking of the LaRose goal). He's a good player, but he isn't the difference between winning and losing. He's getting worn down, it's been happening for a few weeks, but the Flyers won't acknowledge that because they keep winning.

Said in the paper today that Briere has a decent chance of playing Friday afternoon.

So if Briere plays... what happens to the lines? I wont mind if Briere takes over Metro's spot.

Alberts has been good lately, and Sbisa has struggled some lately...if we see more of that in the next month...then who knows, they may have to decide to go ahead and send Sbisa back to juniors and leave Alberts in the lineup.
totally agree; i'd rather have Alberts in the lineup over Jones, for his physical presence in the d-zone; he also skates well and moves the puck well himself.... and his cap hit isnt as high-priced as Jones' cap hit. the big question is whether the Flyers will be able to resign Alerts before the FA period begins in July, and at what cost???

Alberts isn't the type of player you need to worry about regarding the cost. He's highly replaceable, if he wants more, he will end up going elsewhere, especially with our cap issues.

You can't and shouldn't base whether or not a player should be in the NHL on one play. That goes both ways..the good and bad plays. Take a look at the totality of his play since the beginning of the season and he has been much better than advertised and has proven that he's ready to play in the NHL right now. Getting worn down? We're what..a quarter of the way through the season? Get real. The kid is proving that he can play. While he does make the occasional mistake, who doesn't? If we were to nitpick the play of Carle or even Kimmo, we'd be able to find that even they make the occasional mistake. Albeit Sbisa's mistakes may happen with a little more frequency, he's not costing the Flyers games. Is he the difference between winning and losing? Probably not. Is he proving he is capable of playing in the NHL and should be here all year? Is he learning much more now than he would be playing in Juniors? You bet. The future is very bright for this youngster.

Agreed, we'll re-sign either him or Vaananen.

I love how the cool thing to do now is bash Sbisa. I saw Carle get completely knocked off the puck last game, and if it were Sbisa there would have been 15 posts about it. He's not going back to juniors, so everyone who was wrong about him making the team from the outset and feels the need to criticize him at every chance, get over it.

Sbisa needs to play 10-12 minutes to be effective. Vaananen is back so it could be done.

No about the fact that he's not learning anything. Players in their 30's are still learning things about the game. When your 18, you learn 5 times as fast.
