I'm trying to figure out why Florida would trade Booth who's basically the same thing as Lupul but cheaper or Ballard who's basically the same as Jones (if not better) but younger??? I dont see the motivation for FL to make this deal...it doesn't make them younger, which I think they'll be going for at this point, or much better, which would be a requirement to save Martin's job at this point.

I'm confused...

Why would Florida trade away a very good dman who is signed long term when their other very good dman is likely to bolt or be traded? Wouldn't they rather trade JayBo and keep Ballard to fill the gap???

cap is threatening to drop, and lupul is the most logical candidate to be traded. he has a decent cap hit and has decent trade value.
