Round 2: Worst Montreal Canadien in Recent History?

After one round of voting, I have decided to shorten the voting time by one day and eliminate people who got absolutely no share of the vote and replace them with some others mentioned. I also added Murray Baron to the overall list.

Worst Montreal Canadiens in Recent Memory
1. Patrick Traverse (26.44%)
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

I eliminated Scott Lachance, Trent McCleary and Pierre Sevigny from this round as they each only got a single vote. I added Murray Baron, Jason Dawe, Barry Richter and Sergei Berezin.

Original post below.

-----

In honor of a recent thread with the best 100 Canadiens of all time, I am opening a poll to figure out the worst Montreal Canadien of recent history.

I did far more research than I would like to admit. So here is my criteria:

-Must have played between 1984-85 and today (IE: Koivu & Roy's current career span combined)
-Only Montreal stats, regular season, count.
-Must have played 20 or more games for Montreal.

Now, like the prospect polls, I will nominate 15 guys, but post more players here. In each poll "other" is an option. If other wins, then I will figure out who the heck was gathering those votes and redo that round with them in it.

I will post the list of nominees I came up with in full, including career Habs stats, in the subject thread.

My nominations are based on actual statistical badness, my own memory and in some cases, popular demand. The actual nominees will be at my discretion to start.

Poll closes in one day.

Here is the list of people I considered.

GP 75, 4g, 5a, 9p, 64pim

I noted players I considered even if they're not on the voting list. I figured it was easier just to throw O'Byrne on the list than listen to people demand his head.

Garth Murray shouldn't be anywhere near the top of this list.

The list isn't any order save sorted by f/d/g. The people at the "top" are the ones in the vote.

Are we supposed to vote for the worst player or for the player who less reached the expected contribution to the team? Because clearly, Higgins and Laflamme were much much much worst than Samsonov and Dagenais.

My intent was worst, but I don't think such subtleties will hold up here, so use whatever criteria you like.

Aight, then I vote for Laflamme.

After these rounds of voting, it would be nice to have a poll consisting of players who only played for Montreal and rank them in them as "Top 10 guys who shouldn't have played in the league but did because we were so bad"

No, no. I just meant I'm surprised he'd even be considered. That's all.

Czerkawski agian.

I had the biggest expectations for him.. and he was such a letdown. I remember being so excited when we acquired him on draft day.

Voted Laflamme just because I don't believe Samsonov should be in the top 10 let alone top 2, but I still stand by my original and think Jason Ward was absolutely terrible.

On another note I don't remember Barry Richter at all?

Samsonov

Definately not the worst player on the list but probably the biggest let down.

I think Matt Higgins. Drafted 18th overall and never achieved anything.
I don't remember him much.

Murray Baron wasn't great with us (and I'll admit not remembering his play very much), but I wouldn't go as far as to say a player who played nearly 1000 NHL games is worse than a player who played 57 and only got 3 points.

PS. I'm offended that Sundstrom is even on the list.

Guys who, IMO, have no business there:
Sundstrom
Audette
Hoglund
Zalapski
Ulanov
O'Byrne
Dagenais (as much as I hated seeing him play)
Randy McKay

Add:

Sylvain Blouin
Gordie Dwyer
Terry Ryan (I know he probably didn't play enough to qualify, but he was drafted 8th overall, 3 picks before Iginla)
P.J. Stock (haha)

The problem with this poll, is that some of these guys never played a single game, or just a handful of games with the Habs.

I'm o.k. with guys like Traverse and Samsonov, but Baron, Higgins ???? Why not Bilodeau, Urquart and Ryan then ?

I wondered this too, but assumed he didn't play enough games.
