Defense coach : Eric Desjardins

According to many montreal journalist, montreal should consider getting eric desjardins as defense coaches because the habs have many promosing young Defensemen coming in the next few years like pk subban, weber, carle, mcdonaugh, obyrne and it would make sense to have somebody who has a great career and won the cup in montreal like desjardins to teach them and help them out. I think doug jarvis should joing bob gainey in the front office.

1993 cup winner coaching staff: carbo-muller-desjardins
front office: gainey, jarvis, brisebois, gauthier

Let's get Bobby Orr to piss Bruins fans off.

I would really like for Desjardins to do just that, but he's waaaaaaaaay too much of a Flyers fan to come over here. He was cheering for them in the second round last year.

Really, to piss off the Bruins, we should ask Ray Bourque to come here as D coach. Now that would be epic.

But more realistically, we might wanna ask Serge Savard. I mean Corey is gone, and maybe Serge would like to do that for a year or two, as long as he keeps away from the booze.

Or Joel Bouchard? He seems like a good teacher. You don't need to be an ex-superstar to be a good teacher. Sometimes, people are better at saying what should be done, than doing it themselves.

that would be the best solution, IMO

I'd forget about Bourque, I don't think he needs/wants these troubles.

Desjardins seems like a more natural fit as a coach than Brisebois... from my totally insubstantial fan's viewpoint of them as players.

But then if Roland Melanson makes a good goalie coach or others like Brisebois, Gaston Gingras, or Joel Bouchard seem to realistically hold coaching potential, then clearly the insubstantial fan's viewpoint is... well, insufficient in addition to being insubstantial.

You know coaches don't have to be ex-players of the same team. Also a player's skill doesn't determine ability to coach.

No doubt. However, I'll say one thing about Brisebois, he has totally gained my respect since the injury to Komisarek, as has O'Byrne. The Habs GAA average the past 6 games or so says it all. I know that the forwards knew that they would have to step up their defensive game after Komis injury, but there is no way the team could have played as well defensively without a solid defence.

Correct me if I am wrong but Doug Jarvis is currently the man in charge of our D, and our powerplay. Kirk Muller in charge of the PK...

So what does Carbo do? Pick his nose? Do his fancy line juggling in a 649 ball system before the game?

I would generally imagine as the head coach with his staff at his disposal, he can delegate tasks etc at the end of the day Muller and Jarvis report to him...he is the head coach that is how the hierarchy is.

I also imagine despite all the levels of delegation they (The coaching staff) all work closely together and liaise to deliver the best positive results.

hashmi842, some friendly words of advice.

Do a quick search over the 1st 2 or 3 pages of this forum to see if the topic has already been discussed. Also, there is a search function at the top of the page. Type in the topic you would like to discuss and see if someone has already started a thread about it.

You've started a lot of threads lately, and a lot of them have been closed. By doing this you will save yourself some time typing. As well as taking less flak from us about posting repeat threads.
