Aucoin for Kovalev

My friend is an engineer in Calgary and on a talk show this morning on the radio it mentioned about kovalev being sought by flames. They said keenan really wanted him for tanguay, but the cap would not allow it. Thus, now the flames are willing to take kovalev for aucoin once the injured defensemen return. I mean this is a good trade that Gainey should consider.

Hamrlik played really well with Aucoin in Calgary. This was proposed to me by a flames fan, and I think it could make sense.

Aucoin has a hard slap shot like Souray, hes a leader, I think R shot, and it could solidify our defense. Can replace streit as trigger man. Veteran too.

To Calgary:
RW - Alex Kovalev (4.5)

to Montreal:
D - Adrian Aucoin (4.0)

They never played together in Calgary. In fact, Aucoin was traded to the Flames days before Hamrlik signed with the Habs.

Anyway, I'd like to get Aucoin, and I wouldn't mind getting rid of Kovy.

Is this a joke? Kovalev isn't going anywhere.

He's pacing himself for the playoff this year, just like his boy Plekanec (only tennis this summer). Anyway, he's like what? 3 points away from Tanguay

WTF?! Kovalev was paid 4.5 last year and Tanguay was paid 5.375, and last the Habs year had 2 mil in reserve, so witch way or another, this punk is lying threw his teeth, seriously what are the mods waiting for to ban him? He comes here, claims bullcrap, then leaves his own thread and starts other ones.

What about the fact Aucoin is brutal defensively and doesn't fix an ounce of problems we have on our blueline.

The Flames would cherish the thought of anyone taking him and his contract off his hands.

Worst one sided trade proposal I've hear so far this year.

Haha Aucoin is BRUTAL.

Imagine Hamrlik but slow and with ZERO agility... He's a lumbering turd out there.

Kovalev was one of the big reason we made the playoffs last season.

Totally agree... if we wanted a $4 million PP specialist we could have kept Streit.

This is stupid. This trade would be worse than when we traded Ribeiro for Niinimaa. Kovalev isn't going anywhere but if he was, we would get more then just Aucoin.

I thought the NTC ended last year for the east side.. and he can be traded to a East team now.

Isn't the January marker for when he can be traded to a west club?

Kovalev for Aucion is ridiculous people! Aucion+2nd round.... maybe. Personally, i think aucion is terrible as i live in calgary and watch almost every flames' game. He's past his time, too slow for the habs. But yes, he does have a rocket of a shot but i'm still not sold on his salary or his defensive abilities. People call Kovalev a plague to the team, but some people on here with jumping on player bashing bandwagons are plaguing these boards. The expectations this year are making people crazy! It's a long season people....

Sorry, i just had to rant as i usually don't post but reading the boards these days without saying anything is becoming impossible!

Go Habs Go!

Aucoin is UFA when the season end.. I think Gainey didnt want to invest 4 millions per year on this guy, we still can find better options.. Aucoin might be a short term option..

I think this proposal is awful. I'd rather bring up another prospect than trade Kovalev for a washed-up Dman and leave the team with an even weaker PP than it has now.
