Mike Boone: About last night

http://habsinsideout.com/boone/11817

This part got to me...
Quote:
If the coach has no answers, what are fans supposed to think about this maddening hockey team?

This is a translation of what a seething Guy Carbonneau said in French moments after your Montreal Canadiens – fresh off what we thought was a season-defining conquest of the Stanley Cup champions in Detroit – played 12 minutes of hockey against José Theodore and an AHL defence in Washington.

"I'm very disappointed. I don't know what's going on with this team. The guys seem incapable of being prepared.

"We knew they had many injured players. We also knew they hadn't lost at home this season. We warned the team before the game. But it goes in one ear and out the other."

The scary phrase that jumps out at you:

"I don't know what's going on with this team."

Hello!

Houston (or maybe Hamilton), we have a problem!

If Carbo doesn't know, who does?

"Through two months and 22 games, two excellent, 60-minute efforts: a shutout of woeful Ottawa and a heroic conquest of the Red Wings"

Pretty bang on if you ask me.

Someone please email Bob Gainey his columns..

IMO Carbo deserves a large part of the blame for the loss last night. I'm not one to typically attack the coach but how the h#ll do you have O'Byrne out there against Ovechkin when changing on the fly?
That is honestly unacceptable, especially when his first shift of the 3rd period came once O'Byrne got on. What happens, O'Byrne turns the puck over twice and the second goal of the game is eventually scored.

Also, down by a goal in the third period on the road after a strong end of the second and he starts the 3rd with his fourth line? He doesn't go back to 2 power lines? The effort over 60 minutes was not consistent, I will admit, but this was not their worst performance of the year, either. It might have been the coach's however.

We beat the Leafs 6-1, I'd say that's a good effort.

carbo is too arrogant and moron to coach a team
always blame is players and never himself
he is the reason why the team no longer puts effort and plays like a team

I agree, Carbo just doesn't get it, and his coaching dissatisfies me, especially his line formations. However, he can't just roll the Dmen when the Habs are on the road. Besides, with Komisarek unavailable, who else is there at right D to stop Ovechkin? Brisebois?
