Jason Blake will not play Saturday night against Philadelphia but is expected to make the trip west with the team on Monday.
Blake, who missed one game with a concussion, took the morning skate on Saturday but will wait a few days before returning to the lineup. The Leafs begin a west coast road trip on Monday in Los Angeles.
Coming off a shootout loss to Ottawa on Thursday, Vesa Toskala will get the start again on Saturday. Toskala stopped 34 shots to help the Maple Leafs earn a standings point despite extending its losing streak to five (0-3-2).
Neither are centers though. Lasse surely won't be taking faceoffs. I don't know how much center Kalinski has played but in college he was mostly a winger.
Right but last game where there was much conjecture about Kukkonen as a center, Stevens said he would play that role in certain spots. What did he call it? "High center" or something like that. Gagne could take faceoffs. Didn't Timonen take a draw a game or two ago, too?
Briere has played in just eight of the Flyers' 22 games this season. He missed six games recovering from surgery to repair a sports hernia; played in parts of two more games; then missed the next eight games with a tear in his groin.
"We want to make sure he's ready to go," Flyers coach John Stevens said. "It seems he gets a little better every day but it's not 100 percent. Our plan right now is to not play him (tonight) and get him back in Tuesday, but we'll see."
The Flyers are also crossing their fingers today on Jeff Carter. The 23-year-old center bruised his right shoulder when he was checked into boards by Joni Pitkanen early in the third period Friday. Carter has five goals and three assists in his last five games. The club is calling Carter's injury an "upper body contusion" but X-rays will give them a better evaluation of the injury today.
Defenseman Luca Sbisa blocked a shot with his skate and received medical attention after the game. He will also be re-evaluated today.
I never get tired of seeing JR's goal in OT! And I love the Potvin/Hexy fight -- is there much better than a goalie fight? Rock 'em Sock 'em Goalies!
I want to see 60 minutes of energy, hard work, and hustle. And I want to see a big win! And I want to see a lot of dejected Leafs fans as we leave the ACC.
Friggen Deveaux? Figures....
I'm beyond psyched for this game! I don't know if we'll be able to get to ice level to watch warmups, but I'll have my camera just in case!
LET'S GO FLYERS!!
Hope you and Woof enjoy yourselves tonight!

Crap! Even without Briere, Carter and Sbisa, the Flyers shold have no problem beating the Leafs.... as long as they put up a solid effort. Toronto's not a top notch faceoff team, so maybe the Flyers will get lucky having Knuble or another winger take draws in place of Carter (if he doesn't play).
Looking forward to my favourite scoreline of the year:
As always, great job, MSE!
I'll be watching this one with a large group of Leafs' fans. I'll be the only Flyers' fan there, so the boys better show up and avenge yesterday's loss!
Please oh please let Carter play! This would totally suck if he wasn't in the lineup. I also had a feeling he was off after he came back from being crunched behind the net but was hoping all would be well.
man I hate the injury bug, my Chiefs are hit so bad with it, they're signing guys off the street to play defense because the first, second and third string guys at several positions are down for the season
Both Carter and Biron suffered shoulder injuries in Friday's setback. Carter is expected to play tonight, while Biron is questionable and may give way to backup netminder Antero Niittymaki, who beat the Hurricanes on Wednesday.
