Proposal: Plekanec for Cammalleri

Satellite Hotstove mentioned something about Cammalleri being available. Would you send Plekanec to get him?

Plekanec salary 1.8 this season and then RFA
Cammalleri salary 3.6 this season and then UFA

have to send some salary as well - Dandenault 1.75 this season then UFA

Plek 5'10" 12pts this season; 69pts in 81 GP last year (0.85 ppg)
Camm 5'9" 20pts this season; 47pts in 63 GP last year with the Kings (0.75 ppg)

UFA vs. RFA makes it undoable for me. Even if Camm is a slightly better player (arguable, but I think he might be), Plekanec has the higher net value due to his restricted status.

Wow... just wow...

To even consider this is beyond crazy...

Pleks is having a hard time, I admit, but come on... think twice...

How is it beyond crazy? Cammalleri is a very good player and actually plays with heart. I have yet to see that from Plekanec this year, he's just a completely different player.

Cammaleri is UFA anf Pleks is our only top 6 center who we have the rights to entering next year...

Do you have premature Alzeimer... Plekanec is having problem this year (first 20 games)... he's been one of the most reliable player all his career... but I guess his 20 games this year are more important than his whole career...

Pleks would only be move for a signed star center... certainly not for a player like Cammaleri...

A player like Mike Cammalleri? Jesus Christ the guy has 20 points in 22 games. His career high was 34 goals and 80 points for the Kings. You're making it seem like the Habs would be throwing Plekanec in a dumpster.

I must say, the turtleneck almost makes me want to send him to Calgary but... I can learn to live with it, I suppose.

Thank you. It's not a simple slump, he's not going in the corners anymore and fighting for the puck. He's playing like a perimeter player, not asserting himself at all since the playoffs last year.

Like someone in another thread said, he found out he can get hurt in the playoffs and all of a sudden he's scared.

please, your digging a big hole for yourself.

Why is keenan trying to unload this guy after getting him this offseason??

Pleks is having a tough time, but pleks is a way better 2 way player than mike. Throw in the fact that mike is a UFA at seasons end and pleks is not........

Pleks is having a bad year cause his linemate Kovalev is a puck hog giveaway machine so far this season.

A big hole from what? You haven't proved to me that Plekanec is better than Cammalleri, there is nothing to support that. Better career year and better right now.

Keenan isn't trying to unload him, he's not the GM. In fact I have no idea why he's available he's playing on Calgary's top line right now and had a hatty the other day.

I'm a big Plek fan and i don't know why he's struggling so much this year. It looks like one of those bad slumps but in the end I agree he's a bit too much on the fairy side...

ok so, we trade pleks for a ufa, ok

who do we have left at Center for next season?? except for lapeirre/Chipchura we have no other Centers under contract with NHL experience for next season if you make this trade.

So in the offseason we would need to resign or acquire 3 centers?

glad your not our GM

That would be the exact reason why Sutter would not make the trade and Keenan would not want Plekanec. He wouldn't fight for anything.

Now I know why you're so offended by the proposal! You think the Habs would be trading Plekanec for calamari! Squid!

Jesus. And to think I insulted your intelligence on the matter.

Cammalleri>Plekanec

Right now Mike is playing a pt a game player and would lead the habs in goalscoring.

Minus the salary but yeah thats pretty much how it is on paper right now.

I say wait it out on this team they don't play terrible hockey its just because everyone expects them to be 1st in the east again which we overachived last season.
