I really hope that A Kost gets a more consistent chance to be our PP shooter. He really has a rocket of a shot and I believe in due time he'll start finding the back of the net if he stays as our PP shooter. Thoughts?
This was the obvious move..I expected this to happen before the season started.
Carbo got excited like a moron because we had Tanguay and Lang coming in..with our younger players expected to be even better..so he changed the whole PP like the genius he is.
Now, I hope he'll keep A.Kost there and not go back to the same crappy PP units.
i'd rather give akost the time to get better at the point than keep lang on the side of the net on PP's. Atleast akost has a good excuse for missing his mark.
A lot of people have been wanting this for some time (including myself). I think that AK46 is at his best when he takes charge and is given plenty of ice time and responsibilities. Separating him from Kovalev is crucial to his development IMO.
I think we saw him recently on the PK as well. I really believe that it may be possible to turn him into a complete player a-la Marian Hossa.
It's ridiculous to have had his brother at the point for this long when his shot is barely stronger then Saku's, when Andrei has the hardest shot on this team. It's about damn time Carbo put him at the point, hopefully he'll stay there until PK Subban arrives
I think so. Who is a better candidate to replace the element that Streit and Souray had on the PP? Left handed with an absolute cannon of a shot and can also make plays... Kovalev is really the only other guy who fits that description, but he's best off the half boards.
I think that even when they went to play for Belarus this spring it was Andrei who was used on the point. Not to mention that he played the point in Hamilton. Yes, Sergei has a great imagination with the puck. But Andrei's passing is underrated, and his passes have more mustard on them than Sergei's. Not to mention that bomb.
Just a little practice to get his accuracy back and we could have something here.
sorry to blow your fun, but carbo put him their only because it was a 5 on 3 PP. We will see next game, but carbo thinks defense first. In other, the most important thing is not to get scored on the PP

The difference is night and day. He's been the best forward on the ice for our team in 4 of the 5 games he's been away from Kovalev. Coincidence?

It was the first time he ever played the point in Nhl, if you've ever seen him play the point Hamilton, you'll know what he could do. Also this summer when he played with Belarus, his shot was 9/10 times on target.

Actually, his accuracy wasn't bad yesterday. A lot of the shots were blocked or deflected.
sure.. 99.9999% of people here would not do any better. have you played in the NHL? been with the team for years? Won a cup as a player and behind the bench?

yeah, you shouldnt miss the net in 5 on 3 situations unless you're doing it on purpose. It reminded me of watching andrei play for belarus in the world jr's. They also used andrei on the point for 5 on 3s and he would keep blasting the puck over the net or wide.

But damn can he blast that puck. I'm pretty sure it's around 100mph. I think he broke the 100 mark in a team skills competition in the AHL once.
