Sergei's days are numbered?

http://www.gazblogs.com/habsinsideou...ckey/Carbo.MP3

Quote:
Sergei Kostitsyn's days in Montreal may be numbered.

Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau expressed his displeasure with the younger Kostitsyn after the Canadiens' practiced in Verdun yesterday. He described Sergei as a "secobd-year player who think he's been here for 10 years." Sergei appeared upsety that he was relegated to the fourth line Saturday and he drew the coach's ire for taking three penalties which fell into the unnecessary (read dumb) category.

With Matt D'Agostini makig an impressive debut and Georges Laraque and Alex Tanguay recovering from injuries, the Canadiens will soon have an extra body and that could mean Sergei is headed to Hamilton for a reality check.

Send him down then. Sometimes, kids need a swift kick in the pants. If that's what it takes then by all means kick away!

I wouldn't be against sending him down for a few weeks to get his head screwed on straight.

Put him in the press box for a game before just sending him down. C'mon now, D'agostini wasn't that good.

He's young, but he's an NHLer. You don't just send players like him to Hamilton. I don't remember talk from the media about sending Latendresse down to Hamilton last year during any of his 7-8 game pointless droughts.

Good....whatever it takes to get him playing hockey again!!

He was very impressive when he was first called up last year. He scored some big goals and played some great hockey, but now this season he is invisible and he's not producing at all. The fact that he was upset about being demoted to the 4th line shows that he thinks he has a spot on the top 3 lines no matter how he plays.
Send him to Hamilton so he can play big minutes and work on his game. He needs a kick in the butt to get him going and if Hamilton is the only solution, then do it already. No sense keeping him up with the Habs and sit him in the press box....he might as well be down in Hamilton where he can play all the time.

They should have bring up Flinn instead, since Laraque is injuried.

I agree, send him down or sit him for a while. He's feeling way too comfortable and it shows, he needs to be challenged. He was good last year because he had something to prove. Obviously putting him on the 4th line didn't work, so he either needs to sit or be sent down.

I agree I still think him and in his brother need a serious reminder of what team spirit is. Hopefully the older will start working 2 games out of 3 soon instead of 1 out of 2.

I have no problem that he's pissed off about being demoted. I would much rather that reaction instead of him shrugging his shoulders and blindly accepting it. But that's just me, I like the fact that S.Kost is feisty.

I think a game or 2 in the press box is just what is needed here. If once he's put back into action there is no improvement. That is when I would start thinking about assigning him to Hamilton.

Give him responsibility, put him in first 2 lines. He'll have to prove himself.

Better then beat the dead horse.

I think Andrei's been one of the better forwards for the last 7 or 8 games. I also think Sergei played alright last game minus 2/3 selfish penalties.

For Latendresse we need Patience (in his 3rd full season)
For S. Kost we need the whip and Hamilton? (in his first full season)

this makes so much sense

Lats visited the press box more than once in his first & second year.

No, I think it's better to ship another young player with an attitude out of town. That always works...

Wow, the free ride!

The kid is acting like he deserves to be a top flight player on this team, he has to work hard to attain this status. Carbo the coach with first hand experience in this matter says, the kid is acting like a 10 year old Veteran inregards to ice time or placement in the line up...that is troubling and whats more troubling is he showed his displeasure by taking three dumb penalties in the game.

Edit: this team has been in a slump lately, if there is an Air of Entitlement...that has to be cut off right away, no time for it to linger as the season goes on. Demotion, kick in the butt...anything don't let it linger because it will effect Andrei as well!

Good thing (the pressbox) then, you give him another shot, if he doesn't take it, then you send him few weeks in the minors.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Lats could be sent down to Hamilton because of his age.

Anyway, with Komisarek presumably on the IR to allow D'Agostini to be called-up to begin with, I fail to see how the return of Tanguay and/or Laraque means that a player must be sent to Hamilton. The roster still adds up to 23, no? Unless they want another D up with the team.

Sergei to the press box is good enough for now. The real test is how he responds when re-inserted into the line-up.

theres nothing wrong being pissed off over relegation into the fourth line, that is your wake up call, shape up! There is something terribly wrong to show your displeasure by way of taking dumb penalties.

That is being missed here, a lot of you are taking this like its great his pissed off but most of you are not factoring in the way in which he showed it last game.

Lats couldn't been sent in Hamilton. He was too young. And now that he's old enough, he played too many NHL games to not pass waivers.

I can't really blame people for wanting Sergei to to wake the heck up, but at the sametime I'm nervous about turning him into this team's whipping boy... I'm just not sure if he has the right attitude to be made into the scapegoat.

I personally would like to see him play through this rough stretch (which IMO hasn't even been that "rough" as I can think of a few players that have concerned me much more than him).
