It shows. Burns is much better and much more valuable than Whitney.

Pittsburgh would still say hell no though, Malkin > Gaborik.

If healthy, Gaborik and Malkin are more equal.... Gaborik would give Sid the winger he needs to absolutely tear up the NHL. Andddddd Brent Burns would be probably the best D-Man on their team with the trade.

If healthy, it's a good deal for Pitt (and ofcourse, a Gaborik extension) and the Wild both. Probably more beneficial to Pitt though in the long run.

This post is somehow more off than the original proposal and I didnt know that was possible.

It would be stupid to trade potentially the best player in the world (there's only two others in that discussion, and its hard to say there's a strong argument for any of them over Malkin now). WITH GAborik's injury history its not just stupid, it is lunacy.
Well, that's why I said if healthy.... Obviously a non-injured player for an injured player isn't even. We're pretending Gaborik doesn't get injured constantly.

How so? and I mean that when I ask.

Remember, I noted that this pends a Gaborik extension and if Gaborik would actually stay healthy. Gaborik is a nastyyyyyyy player when he plays...and Burns is better than Whitney...so I think it's close given these specific circumstances.

Pit doesn't need Malkin, I've been saying for a while they should trade him, maybe for another deal but I don't see why it's blasphemy to consider the thought.

Gaborik has never been close to as good as Malkin in the NHL, injured or not. And yes, it is blasphemy to consider trading a player like Malkin.

I'll agree with you on the first part for sure, that's where I'm thinking Burns over Whitney helps close the gap in that deal.

And not everyone would trade Malkin, but I like it. Keep Staal, trade Malkin for other assets to help out Sid.

trade a top 2 player in the league for a guy that plays half the season and swap offensive defenseman? nah, i'll pass

yes Burns is better overall than Whitney but that's not enough to make up for the difference in Gaborik and Malkin.

If Minnesota really wanted Malkin, something like this maybe, even though Malkin is untouchable in the real world:

Malkin

for

Gaborik
Burns
Koivu
Sheppard
1st

????

What about Dupuis and Eaton for Clutterbuck and Burns?

I think that's pretty fair.
