Koivu isnt worth a 1st and a propsect IMO let alone Kovalev. huge overpayment. Montreal just has to be patient with Kovalev, he will start going.

Koivu, Koivu, Plekanec, Lang. That's alot of Centers. I do really like M.Koivu though. He's amongst my top 3 favs with Price and Brassard. And since we all know Brassard will be a Habs one day might as well get Koivu and make it the trifecta :sarcasm. In all seriousness though. Kovalev is not the kind of player that would play well in Minnesota and I would give up a defensive prospect over a forward because Montreal is over-loaded at Defense in terms on prospects. I also don't think that Minnesota is in the business of trading their captain and clearly their best player right now. But for ***** and giggles...

this would be way overpaying for miko koivu pacioretty has the makings of a top forward and could be brought up this year while with kovalev i agree with oilgagner he will get going and his at a way more advanced skill level then mikko koivu is. if your gonna throw in pac and kovalev you should not add a first round pick

Well... Kovy is an UFA and Koivu is signed at 3.250 cap hit through 10/11. Plus the all around game is much better than Kovalev. Plus I think Koivu can contribute much more to the team in the playoffs than Kovalev can.

Much better than the first deal. I wouldn't trade Subban though.

Maybe:

To Min:
T.Plekanec
OB
2nd 09

To Mtl:
M.Koivu

Thoughts?

Probably better. Everytime I think of trading a defensive prospect I go...

Weber? Nah, have a man-crush
McDonagh? Ummm NOOOO!!1
Fischer? He's useless probably doesnt have too too much value
PK Subban? Love him, just not as much as the others

O'Byrne though? where do I sign

Minnesota is not making this deal. Anyone with a small bit of objectivity in relation to the Montreal Canadiens knows that.

A first round pick is nice, but Koivu is a leader and arguably the best player on the team.

I'm so sick of bad proposals today, just please ask yourself this, why would Mionnessota even remotely consider this scrap of a proposal for their captain and current best player, Plekanec and O'Byrne both suck right now and that 2nd round pick has no value at all for a player like Mikko. Do i want Mikko here? hell yes i do! Plekanec could be part fo the deal but you need to give them alot more

I was more or less sarcastic. I was just saying that he's the Toyota Corolla of our defensive prospects. PK Subban is our Lincoln Towncar. Yannick Weber is our Lamborgini. Valentenko and Emelin our the cars stuck in the garage that might never be taken out for a spin. And Ryan McDonagh is our Batmobile that can fly to Mars.

Where do I signed... sadly Minn won't do this...

I'd replace Plekanec with Kovalev... would they bite?

I really like Plekanec but Mikko is solid gold...

I'd do this in a heartbeat as a Habs fan. I'd consider giving them a Defense prospect as well (Not Weber or McDonagh).

Mikko is probably the most untouchable player on Minnesota.

Nice package for Koivu, but Montreal is not getting the younger brother for it.

No go from Minnesota. Not because the value is far off, but because Koivu is the guy in MN, from the coachs to the fans.

lol Montreal's 4th line will be centered by one of Koivu/Koivu/Lang/Plekanec.
