Canadiens fans 12th most passionate

Got this from TSN that the Habs have the 12th most passionate fans in all of NA sports. I guess they didn't look here, or they would have had them 1st.

http://tsn.ca/other_sports/story/?id...headlines_main

Edit: Mod please change title from 9th to 12th. Thanks.

What a load of crap. Habs 12th, Leafs 91st? LOL

Both should be higher. Especially Laffs.

I think only the Yankees, Red Sox and maybe the Mets and Cubs have more passionate fans than the Habs only because of the size of the fanbases.

How can the "Vatican of hockey" be ranked 91st??

In all seriousness, there is no way the Maple Leafs fans should be below the Blue Jays. That just doesn't make sense. You can't get Leafs tickets yet the Skydome almost always has more empty seats than occupied seats.

they put in factors such as ownership which should have no barring on how passionate the fans are.

Considering we are 12th in North America is quite impressive when your up against the likes of other sports and hardcore fans like the Cowboys, Packers, Yankees, Cubs, Red Sox, Lakers, Celtics and others.

Read the whole ranking issue on trust in ownership to be a winner and so on...if your a Leaf fan and haven't won since 1967 and the Teacher's Union is a large owner and want a profit over a winner does that make you have faith in putting a winner on the ice like the top teams are always doing in this survey?

It's not based on team loyality only.

Pretty impressive when you consider the size of the fan base in the NFL, a lot of people worship their NFL teams. Pretty cool ranking, although some of them are wrong imo

That list is a joke, lets be real the Leafs at 91st? The NY Knicks so low? Sens ahead of Canucks?

How did we get beat by Pittsburgh and Detroit in the NHL market??

Rounding out the top 10 franchises with the strongest team brand in their local market were the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Red Wings, San Antonio Spurs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Boston Celtics and St. Louis Cardinals.

isn't that wrong since a ton of Detroit fans come from Canadians crossing the river?

Its just based on fan votes, and not by actual fact. The reason those 2 teams are higher is likely because most of the fans surveyed were from US markets.

How is Ottawa even close to the top?? Really??

And yes, the Penguins being up there before us ridiculous, as well as Detroit, to a lesser extent.

The survey is flawed.
The most reliable survey to go by is the one where half the players in the entire nhl were surveyed. We were number 1 by a long shot!!

I bet they asked like 20 Canadians and 400 Americans for this. Seriously, if your a leafs fan, they havent won since 67, and people still show up strong, 91st is probably one of the worst in sports(it was 4 leagues, about 30 teams each, so 120). I hate when site puts out stats that are completely useless, since the values taken don't represent anything

Did you expect a bunch of Americans to rank ANY Canadian sports franchise high??? I'm sure a major percentage of the people polled were Americans, and a big percentage of them, probably couldn't NAME all the Canadian sports franchises, so....

I'm surprised the habs finished as high as they did.

Yeah I'm sure the entire city of Green Bay would have rioted if Bart Starr was suspended for the playoffs. What a joke.

You're also going to have a hard time convincing me that Sens fans are more passionate than Leaf fans. I've lived in both places and there is no comparison.
