lol. I have no clue why I didn't add that one into my post. I just thought about an article I read a few months back about the U.S. cities most hungry for a title. The article was I believe from 2006 or so. But yeah, that would also be a factor.

Dear Downie,
Please don't kill one of our players. You may go flying across the bench and mercilessly beat the sin out of John Stevens all you would like, because that would be an EPIC WIN, but please leave the players out of this. Also, I would like to see you score a goal. Just one though, and the only one Tampa gets, so that way I can cheer for you, but the Flyers also win. Thanks.

Love,
Kambo

P.S.- I miss you!

Well done, MSE. That Dio tune gets too little play.

Ulanov, ah yes.

Won't be on the boards tonight, I'll be down at the Wach. Should be a good game, hope Nitty gets the start.

Looks like Downie has played in two games for the Lightning thus far...getting 6 mins of icetime in the game against Minny last week, and 7:30 of icetime against Colorado the other night.

Here he is getting his ass handed to him by Cody Mcleod in that Colorado game...

Just went on the Norfolk Admirals site to see how Downie's stats have been thus far. The top story on their main page is that two of their players...Smolenak and Szczechura have been called up to the Lightning. So, I suppose there will be a couple of guys on that current Lightning roster getting the scratch tonight. Wonder if there's any chance they intend to scratch Downie?

Lightning recalls two players from Norfolk
The Lightning is about to begin morning skate in preparation for tonight's game with the Flyers, where it'll have two more new players in uniform. Management continues to tinker in search for some answers to the current four-game slide.

From a team release:

The Lightning have recalled center Paul Szczechura and left wing Radek Smolenak from Norfolk of the American Hockey League. Both players will be in Philadelphia tonight and available for the game against the Flyers.

Szczechura leads the Admirals with 11 goals and 24 points in 23 games, while Smolenak has tallied eight goals, 18 points and 93 penalty minutes in 23 games.

It will be most interesting to see who leaves the lineup if the call-ups go in immediately. LW Gary Roberts' balky groin will open one spot. Perhaps Evgeny Artyukhin comes out of exile. Szczechura theoretically could bring some offense, Smolenak what ex-coach John Tortorella used to call 'jam.'

Alright, I still had on my comp some of my favorite photoshop work I did of Downie last season, so...one final tribute to Downie for his return to Philly tonight....

If you can't tell, that's Blake...

Blake again...giving him the necksnapper

And again, Blake...

I know Jules has some great ones back in last year's photoshop threads too.

What?? NOOOO!!!!!!

I do get TSN2 but won't be here tonight. I so rarely get to see games on a TV with an actual TV feed. Metallica better be the best damn show I've seen in 5 nay 7 years.

If it hasn't been posted already:

It's official: Briere will return tonight. Cote's back too.

http://flyers.nhl.com/team/app/?serv...LPage&id=18891

By the way, looking at the game notes, the Flyers' home PP is 2nd in the league, but 8th overall. Hopefully the Philly crowd stays behind them and they step up on their chances!

GO FLYERS!

Yeah, I can't see him fighting Cote...but I can certainly see Asham squaring off with him.

Asham would destroy Downie imo, as long as he does not run Gags I am happy.
