Habs after at least one of these guys...

TSN Insider Darren Dreger mentionned 20 teams are after BU defenseman Matt Gilroy...

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...TRUE&pid=93668

26 teams are after U of Denver center Tyler Bozak including all 6 Candiamn teams. like Trotter he is from Regina and same university.

They are in the running for Bozak for sure, he is described as a 2 way center who is good on faceoffs and has hockey sense.

Yup, and he's big and a right handed shot. From the scouting report, he seems like exactly what we're lacking in our prospect pool.

Habs have an insider as far as Bozak is concerned.....one of the Testwuide bro, who was at the dev. camp might have a good word for us....but then the Leafs have Ruegessesrsersesfsregere....

Interesting options. They were saying Bozak might be NHL ready almost right away if I remember correctly.

Bozak is 6' - 165lbs...

According to the TSN report tonight, he feels he isn't strong enough to play in the NHL right away.

http://wcha.cstv.com/genrel/stats.html?0809/iros/denm

He's listed 6'1" 180lbs there...maybe that was an old measurement(6 165lbs).

I think the report said he is ready to step in right away NHL.

Hmm..for some reason I thought he was 6'3". Anyway, 6'1" is good size if he can get his weight up to around 200.

Bozak seems like an interesting player. A right handed shot is a bonus as well.

Can anyone make a comparison player to player about Bozak?

I'm quite interested about him, but a few words about his faceoffs don't tell me much. He has good size, and speed, plus hes over a point pergame. Pretty great.

He's bigger then that, and he was asked to turn pro last year but opted to come back to DU since he felt he wasnt' strong enough.

The sizes listed on hockeydb.com are from draft years.

For example, Andrei Markov is listed at 5'10, 172lbs.

I'd want Bozak instead of Gilroy

I get the impression he would be an excellent #2 center, potentially a #1 with time.

The highlight package was promising for both.

We don't need a Gilroy in the system as much as we'd need a Tyler Bozak. But a free prospect is a free prospect, hopefully we win one or both of these races.

This happens all the time, we never ever win, it's annoying. Brunnstrom, Wheeler....we did get trotter, but compared to the others, very marginal gain.

I wish we got Ville Leino. instead, we ended up signing some other chump Janne Lahti, who ppl had penciled in as our 3rd liner power forward. too bad he didnt even last in the AHL. Bozak would be nice tho, him and Chipchura could be a solid 3 and 4th line centers for the team for the future

Who cares when we have Timmins drafting gems, free agents will always be a game of chance.

And I don't think Wheeler would of been given a fair chance to make the team like he was in Boston.

Trotter is also a year younger than Wheeler and two years young than Brunnstrom. He could still become the best player of the bunch. He's having a pretty decent rookie season in Hamilton.

I doubt Trotter comes close to Wheeler personally, I saw a lot of Wheeler and while he was inconsistent for sure, at times he could be a dominate player, nice hands not very physical for a big guy though. As for Trotter having a good year in Hamilton, that's not the case, he's already been benched a couple of times by Lever. He does have some nice hands though, can dish the puck, deke and a decent shot.

We got Danis who I know the flyers tried to sign, too bad it didn't really work out either. Hard to complain though when the club is drafting well year after year.
