Dandenault Slowly but Surely Increasing his Value

I don't know if you guys agree with this, but I like what I'm seeing from him now. I thought he played a sound game on defense tonight, I liked his speed and his transition game, and I thought he had some good shots as well.

Opinions? Not saying he's perfect but I like him more.

I'm pretty sure that's the kind of thread that will have more success on the Habs boards than in here...

wait till he has to defend on a big forward...dandenut is soo weak..wont even be able to knock the guy off the puck.

past two games he has gotten destroyed in his own zone while trying to get the puck. clearly just a temporary thing and in no way do i think this is increasing his value. he hasnt done anything impressive.

Nothing against Dandenault, but....

Dandenault, Bouillon, Brisebois, O'Byrne.

Sounds like our defense in '00-'01. Gainey's got to do SOMETHING about this, it's ridiculous.

Well I totally agree he isn't a Norris candidate or something, but I don't think he got destroyed in all his presences on the ice. I even saw him on the ice once or twice with Kovalchuk and he didn't look that out of place (he kept up with him and kept him from cutting to the middle, forced him to go behind the net and eventually made him lose the puck, if I recall).

I'm just saying he's a bit better than expectations, 'tis all

To be honest, I think he has more value than we give him credit for.

Well the Trashers didn't really play tonight but we can give him credit he was +2 tonight

I prefer having him then O'byrne or Brisebois

I am hardly a Dandenault fan, but if he plays like he did tonight, he's a good bottom pair defender.

In fact, I might suggest he is worth it as a rover. The problem with Dandy is that at 1.7 million, he makes too much to be a rover.

Yeah... With Komisarek back only 2 of those guys will be playing every night and Bouillon is a very good bottom pairing defenceman so it's really not that bad...

Maybe, but we have no shot at a cup with our current D, including Komisarek. IMO

I agree we are one D away from having a cup contending defence but comparing our current D to one which included Traverse, Dykhuis and Laflamme is just crossing the line.

If your value is minus infinity, no matter how much you increase, you stay at minus infinity.

Exaggerating usually gets your point across, or literal interpretation from the reader . I just think we've got too many small d-men, no matter how "big" they play. Bouillon is a dense cube, but he'll never have the reach of a 6'4 d-man. Neither will Gorges. Brisebois is slow, O'Byrne and Dandenault aren't a a long time solution.

No d-men are "ready" in Hamilton. So we're well & screwed I think. Also, Komisarek is not playing at the level we expect this season. Uncharacteristic turnovers, fumbling of the puck and brain cramps. He's great but still, we're not in the same class as Detroit and San Jose.

He has shown he can be versatile. He's been solid, not spectacular but honestly, he hasn't made mistakes to my knowledge. He looks comfortable, low maintenance on D. This will only increase his value.

Seconded. He's making up for his lack of size with speed and effort.

Dandelion is being showcased because I think he will be a package deal for Gaborik.

I sucks fo him to know that is in no way in the team's plan, and the only reason he gets a start is because someone they see a key player is either injured on not playing up to their potential and needs to sit.

For his sake, I hope he is moved. But only when the Habs feel they have the proper NHL bodies to cover the defense, including injuries.

Until then, he is an insurance policy. An expensive one.
