Make your core of players.

I would like to know where players stand in the fans eyes. Post your top 10 guys on the team (in order) that are a must stay.(Unless in some cases it's a mass overpayment of coarse) Prospect don`t count except of D'ago because he is with the big boys has we speak.
Here is mind
1.Price
2.Koivu
3.Markov
4.Hammer
5.Komi
6.A.46
7.Gorges
8.Kostopoulus
9.Kovalev
10.Sergei

Kovalev has slowly been going down my list but I still have hope for him

Tanguay is a very good hockey player and hes playing really well with Saku,so if we are going to re-sign Koivu, why the hell wouldn't we re-sign Alex?

With the chemistry he showed early on with Koivu, I think he's a lock. Canadiens style of play obviously fits him better. Montreal seems to need a quebec born superstar...and i'm guessing Tender won't be it...(This is not Latendresse bashing, it's just the way i see it)

I see where you are going with this but my argument would be that production has been good but in traffic is where I'm concerned. But he is not that type of player.
Also, I'm not sure if he will be worth the ticket that he could possibly get or ask for on the free agency market.
His pay is over 5.25 a year and I dough that he would take less then 5. So 5.5 to 6 a year is a lot for a good 2 way player with little grit.

C'mon folks Sergei should be on all of these lists. We've already forgotten he was one of our best players in the playoffs? It's a sophomore slump, just chill out. Look at Sam Gagner.

Agreed, the Sergei's bashing is getting ridiculous. He is the future face of this franchise with his brother, Price, Komisarek, Markov and Gorges.

1) Price
2) Markov
3) Komisarek
4) Koivu
5) Sergei K.
6) Andrei K.
7) Gorges
8) Hamrlik
9) Tanguay
10) Latendresse

4. A.Kostitsyn
5. Koivu
6. Higgins
7. Hamrlik

And just to go off topic a little bit and go further with it...

Near Future:

1. Price
2. McDonagh
3. Pacioretty
4. A.Kostitsyn
5. Komisarek
6. Maxwell
7. Chipchura
8. Higgins
9. Fischer

I really think that Fischer is going to surprise a lot of people and turn out a solid all around (all aspects/situations) top 4 D-Man

And not to tick anyone off, Subban and Weber are big parts of the young core too!

I think anyone devising a core list not only needs to account for a players skill level but contract as well.
