For anyone missing a Minnesota POV..

Belanger is a solid 3rd line checking center with some great scoring upside. He can be very effective offensively but is very streaky.

Boogaard is a top flight enforcer, he is an absolute giant who is a ridiculously good fighter. He can play some decent minutes compared to other enforcers and while every shift he checks they can at times be dirty (I presume due to his towering height). IMO, he's about as good as it gets as an enforcer.

..Now give me the Buffalo POV.

you say that as if Stafford has shown up this year, I'll take Boogie over Peters next year, and Mac or Mancari? if it gets you a center, very good at f/o's 35 to 40 pts and at a great price.

Because Buffalo is going to trade top prospects for 4th line upgrades. We have a 3rd line center, his name is Paul Gaustad.

Great prospects for a proven center and he easily could play 2nd line in Buffalo, and for people who want Marleau et al. the Sabres will not pay for one.

Sabres have a 2nd line center, his name is Derek Roy. Eric Belanger is not the Drury/Briere replacement we are looking for.

I know you would love to have Gomez or O'Sully but it's not going to happen and esp. at the loss of Roy of JPomm, To think that Stafford has more benefit than Belanger is just wrong( and I admit he is not the answer in 5 years) he could easily help now and next year when timmah is gone

Vanek Roy Kotalik

Hecht Belanger JPomm

xx Goose Max (mancari)

Boogie Mair Kaleta

So how does this help the sabres? Trading for Gomez/O'Sullivan/whoever is unlikely - this may be likely but doesn't help us at all. In fact it's a few steps backwards.

This is a terrible, terrible proposal. Yikes.

Even if you want Belanger...the value in that deal is waaaaay off.

And frankly, I don't think Belanger is the answer on that line anyways. This is a guy whose career high is 37 points and has been in the league for 8 years...and you want him to center the #2 line? Goose basically put up the same numbers a year ago.

Belanger is a #3 center at best. And Boogaard could be had with a mid round pick if we really wanted him, not at the expense of Paille or MacArthur.

Stafford >>> Belanger
Paille/MacArthur>>>Boogaard

That package could get you far more than that.

do we have extra wingers and a shortage of centers ? it fills a center position, allows hecht to move back to wing and gives us a real enforcer. Stafford could be the next Stefan , I can't see how this doesn't make sense..

Vanek Roy re-sign Al

Hecht Belanger Pomm

Paille/ Mac Goose Mancari/Gerbe

Boogie Mair Kaleta

Your a Sabres fan?

Ya, I agree Belanger would be a good guy to get but definitley not at that price maybe like

Stafford, Kotalik, Tallinder
for
Gaborik Belanger

or

Belanger Boogard + 3rd round pick
for Stafford Peters

ok ok ok I slept on it and it is an over payment, I saw a cheap price, signed for next year, good at face offs 2 way player, and NOT INJURY PRONE. I know in my heart that the Sabs just won't pay for a #1 center and the only way they will get 1 is if they bring them through the system.

I like your second idea of Staff Peters \ Boogie Belanger and a 3rd

Too much from Buffalo. 2 possible top 6 guys for a 3rd and 4th line guy.

I'd be very interested in getting Belanger though.

I would be interested in acquiring him, but certainly not at the price of Stafford and Paille, two promising young wingers. I also like Boogard, but he doesn't have much trade value.
