Trade Proposal for Kovalchuk !

Alright now, usually i hate trade proposals but i thought of one that isn't half awful in mind and is a reasonable trade for Kovalchuk

To Atlanta:
Higgins
Lang
D'Agostini
1st rounder in 2010
2nd rounder in 2009

To Montreal:
Kovalchuk

Now Im not exactly sure if everything fits cap wise i havent checked yet, but please dont flame too hard if u hate this proposal, or if im dreaming

That's not a bad offer if Atlanta is listening to offers. I'm not sure Gainey would trade Higgins, he is a front office favorite despite his inconsistency.

How many bloody threads do we have regarding trades to atlanta for kovalchuk? and how much we love the guy? Yeah hes great, yeah i'd love to have him here, yeah we can give up quite a few guys and make decent trades. But i don't think it will happen. Just like the 5-6 other threads regarding this.

That's too much, Kovalchuk is an awesome player, but he is making 7.5 mil and is a UFa in 18 months. The only players I'd trade that much for are 19 or 20 year old Ovechkin/Crosby/Malkin.

If you have to give up that much in assets for as player, you might as well keep the kids and picks and overpay for a Hossa/Bouwmeester etc next summer.

Hossa was a soon-to-be Unrestricted Free Agent who had made it clear he didn't want to re-sign in Atlanta.

Kovalchuk is signed for this year and next at a good value.

There's no comparison.

Kovalchuk is only a uFA in July 2010...but I agree with your point that this proposal would be too much.

wait wait wait.. so we send Atlanta an average player, who really appears to care less about hockey these days, a player with one goal.. and two draft picks that will be near the bottom of the selection round.. for.. one of the most gifted natural goal scorers in the league?

Sign me up.

It's not too much. He's signed for this year and the next plus i'm not even sure my deal would cut it. At least it's not half as retarded as the people making proposal on this forum for Kovalchuk are.

LOL anybody can manipulate words like that..

What if we said"
We send Atlanta a great 2 way player who can score 25-30 a year and has good leadership qualities, a young good prospect who was one of the ahl's league leaders in scoring and has been called up for that past 2 games and has already made an impact. A first rounder(who cares if its late, thats where we got Pacioretty) and a second rounder.

For a guy who is a great scorer but is struggling bad(by his standards) to find the back of the net.

Too much for a player who has scored the most goals sicne the lockout? Who is still only 25 years old, not afraid to fight when need be? Come on.

Contract situation plays a pretty big part of a player's value.

I know Hossa only had a half season left(vs 1 1/2 for Kovalchuk) but they didn't exactly break the bank with that.

Armstrong(25) on pace for 15 goals
Christenson(24) on pace for 15 goals
Esposito(late 1st round pick, but having a poor year)
Late 1st rounder in 2008

Plus Atlanta threw in a grinder in Dupuis.

I'd give just about anything (that isn't Markov, Komi, Price, Plek, or AK46) to get Kovy on this team.

Kovalchuk's value right now is much greater than Hossa's value at the deadline as an impending UFA. HUGE difference.

Add Bouillon, Dandenault and Odjick while you're at it.

if Atlanta did that, they would no longer deserve a hockey team.
