Ortmeyer Assigned to Milwaukee

The Nashville Predators has assigned Jed Ortmeyer to Milwaukee after the forward cleared waivers this morning.

He will join the Admirals in Hamilton and should be able to play tomorrow night against the Bulldogs.

That explains the reassignment of McKenzie and Santorelli to Cincy.

Darn, was hoping we'd see Peverley in Milwaukee

Wow, I thought it would be a conditioning assignment to start but this is a full waiver? Could see him being a bit part in a trade but I don't see him playing for the Preds again unless Peverly, Fiddler, Smithson, Nichol and Bonk are all break legs in a boating accident.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jed back on the ice for the Preds, but there is no one I would sit right now for him.

Don't we only have 22 guys on the roster? Pretty surprising that they chose to waive him since they weren't forced to send him down. Maybe they were hoping he'd get claimed.

Any possibility he plays a few games and we call him back up to see if anyone will pick him up at half salary on waivers? (I do have that correct, don't I? If you pick him up coming back up the team's only responsible for half the salary.)

Yeah - you're correct. That's one of the "new" features of the latest CBA.

Ortmeyer would have to pass back through recall waivers, and the claiming team would only have to pay 50% of his cap salary.

But that would stick the Preds with the other half - basically paying for nothing.

he's on the team, and we're STILL paying for nothing.

A little competition to boost Hornqvist and Jones is never a bad thing
