Guess he means he's young in comparsion to 30 year old Zubie. Sure, he's not exactly young anymore, but he has experience under his belt. Vermette? He is a big effing question mark.

At the end of the day, who are you going to take the risk on? The guy who is a proven player, or a guy three seasons in, hoping he "meets his potential some day"?

I'll be point-blank on this. If he doesn't make the most of his career in Ottawa, and doesn't rack points on such an offensive force of a team, he's probably not going to excel anywhere else.

Season Team GP G A P +/- PIM PP SH GW S S%
1996-1997 Flyers 68 8 13 21 3 22 1 0 2 71 11.3
1997-1998 Flyers 69 8 25 33 29 42 1 0 5 101 7.9
1998-1999 Flyers 63 3 5 8 -5 25 0 1 0 49 6.1
1998-1999 Canadiens 17 3 5 8 -3 4 0 0 1 31 9.7

Vermette hasn't reached his full potential, he may never develop to an 80pt player but he certainly has a better up side than a player like Zubrus.
Is this a joke? Zubrus was one of the youngest players ever to play in the NHL at the time. He was rushed to the NHL by the Flyers. If he had been developed over time, we wouldn't being having this conversation as he would be a PPG player on the Flyers right now. But hey, thats just pure speculation, just like your fellow Vermette fan that claimed Zubrus is not a top-6 forward, even though Zubbie has outscored Vermette since the lockout. Vermette has also played on one of the best scoring teams in the NHL in that duration. Zubrus has split time between a weak Washington team, and New Jersey.

A big no from this Devils fan to the Corrente proposal, and an even bigger no to the Oduya proposal.

With all the injured forwards coming back the Devils have ridiculous depth at forward, and they are in need of good defensemen.

Vermette, Ilya Zubov, Schubert <-> Elias, 2nd

No need for Zubov, we have a comparable in Alexander Vasyunov. Big hell no to Schubert, we have plenty of guys like him and we have allready covered Vermette.

Lastly, I honestly doubt Lou trades the face of the Devil's offence since 1999.

Let's look at this from the Devils point of view.

Zubov is a prospect. A reasonably good prospect but by no means a blue-chipper, especially when you consider he's a Russian prospect and they're becoming increasingly unpredictable. He's at best another Vasyunov and the Devils have one of those already and guess what, he's in Lowell already and putting up good numbers. The insinuation that Ottawa could get Elias for Zubov is simply insane.

Schubert is worthless to New Jersey. We've got a million of him both on the Devils and in the minors. No need.

I've already made myself clear on Vermette.

So, we throw away a second round pick alongside Elias, Elias a PPG player, and we get back a 50 point player who cannot get near to replacing Elias' point production. Would you trade Alfredsson and a second for Langenbrunner, Vasyunov and Pandolfo?

It's not a bad deal, valuewise, but NJ has a ton of forward depth. We need defencemen as badly as you guys.
this.
