You mean the Devils? They were notorious for their trap defensive style and Brodeur in the net. That's where Jacques Lemaire got his defense-first reputation. Like Tricolore#20 said, they were too disciplined to rely on the powerplay to get offense against them. They would just score a couple to get the lead and strangle you to death.
I don't think it still applies as much anymore under Sutter. I'm not very familiar with this year's version of the Devils so I may be mistaken, but it seems to me the new coach opened up their game a little and let young guns like Parise and Zajak fly instead of just relying on Marty to win 3-2 or 2-1 games.
No, he started the neutral zone trap while he was coaching the Habs.
I think the next 3 games are at our reach.. I think our team is finnally getting form while we will face a Devils team without Brodeur, we have to win this one.. I watched about half of Flames games so far this year and I think, if we work hard like the last few games, that it could be a walk in the park.. They are pretty inconsistent, their top 2 lines are nothing impressive and they lack depth up front, not enough skills on this team.. Phaneuf is amazing though, but he is always on the ice, becomes less effective some shifts.. Kiprusoff is a pretty good goaltender but got punished since the begin of the season, the team is inconsistent in front of him.. I think it will be easy if everyone show up, if not, we could still win that game.. Then Tampa, the worst team in the NHL, no reason to lose this one.. so, 6 wins in a row is something really possible IMO.
